I feel you, @bluefinstudios. We've just had another scare with my mum. We nearly lost her three years ago and she was in a bad way for many months before she miraculously got better and kept on living. But she's never been 100% after that so the thought of losing her is rather present all the time. My relationship with my mum is an unusual one that I can't even figure out myself so I don't really know how I feel about it, let alone how I will feel when her time comes. I have a feeling it won't be easy. It never is. Enjoy the time you have left with your beautiful mum. She is lucky to have someone to snuggle too.

It's never easy when we are faced with our mortality. Losing those closest to us is always a difficult thing to overcome. I've had my fair share of loss and what I've learned is to relish in the good memories that you have... so make all the memories that you can and make the most out of the time she has left. Long or short, it is never easy to watch your parent slide down that slippery slope. There is such a feeling of hopelessness, especially if they have memory problems.
I cared for both of my parents as they struggled with Alzheimer's with early onset. When my mom did pass (my dad went three years before her) I cannot even explain the sense of loss, the emptiness...
I can remember realizing that I was now an orphan and that totally devastated me.
Stay strong and know that you have my thoughts and prayers.
