Beat the Fear of Canines

Do you want to be able to get rid of your fear of dogs? Would you like to live a normal life without having to worry about being bitten, scratched, or attacked by your pet? Are you ready for an entire new world where you do not have to keep running your dog past everyone and then trying to hold yourself together enough to go out in public with them? If so, there are steps that you can take to make this happen today!

One of the most common fears of canine owners is the fear of attack from other dogs. Canine attacks can result in severe injury or death if left untreated. While it is true that most dogs have no desire to attack anyone, there are a small percentage of them that display aggression. Unfortunately, many times this aggression is directed toward dogs that are members of the family, such as children or pets. Being able to recognize this behavior is one of the first steps to overcoming your canine attacks.

It may be helpful to consider the fact that canine bites really do happen. Many times, this type of incident occurs when a dog is defending himself, but he can also result in minor skin irritation. Any time you are concerned with your own dogs behavior, you should consider talking to your vet. They will be able to give you helpful information about dogs, such as their personalities and their unique capabilities. This may help you understand why you are afraid of dogs, and it may even lead to appropriate action that can minimize your fears.

Another key reason why many people experience fear of dogs is because they have been bitten or injured in the past. Anytime that you are around your dog, it is very important to make sure that you always carry a cell phone with you and keep a close eye on him. If your dog ever tries to attack another dog, or tries to bite or attack someone, the first step in recognizing canine aggression is to call the vet, who will then need to perform a number of tests in order to determine what is causing your dog's aggressive behavior.

It may be helpful to recall the last time that you handled your dog. If you were aggressively shaking his hand or touching him, you may have caused physical reaction in him. Dogs are capable of feeling aggression, regardless of how cute they may seem. Therefore, if you notice that your dog is showing any aggressive signs, regardless of their size, you should try to separate them immediately by distracting the dog with a toy. If the dog becomes agitated, you should try to distract him by playing a game that requires hand to eye contact, such as tug of war.

Another reason why many people have a fear of dogs relates to their owner's attitude. As dogs are pack animals, they are accustomed to having someone lead and follow them. If this occurs with the owner, or any other person for that matter, your dog will quickly begin to feel that he is not part of the pack and may try to lead the walk instead. This can cause him to develop a sense of superiority over his pet. If you show your dog that you are submissive and welcome him to lead the way, he will see it as his responsibility to you and he will likely stop his aggressive behavior.

Many dogs have been "shoved" throughout their life, and many have had owners who abused them, resulting in them feeling timid and withdrawn. In fact, many times these problems stem from the owner rather than from the dog. Shoving a dog can result in the dog complying because he wants to please his owner. However, he may also be afraid of being left alone or he may simply be confused about where he should go or what he should do.

When you become the alpha figure in your pet's life, you can help him develop a better response to other people and to you. In turn, this will result in him being calmer and less territorial. This will likely happen even if other people don't push him around. As you see, there is an easy way to cure his fears. It just takes loving and respecting him in return. Once he feels this way about you, he will be less defensive around other dogs and will greet them with a warm and joyful heart.
