It all starts as a child, depends on your surroundings and how your parents decide to let you handle and face your worst fears.
I grew up in a very protective environment, didn't have to face any of my fears(thank you mom and dad, highly appreciated).
Usually as a child you're pretty fearless, falling and getting straight up once again without one fear in your mind, cleaning your knees and going at it again till you get it right.
As all kids I was pretty fearless, doing some stupid stuff without any care in the world. It all started when I got to the age of 14, we had a family vacation to Thailand, as always I liked doing extreme attractions.
We went to a vast stormy river rafting, we split to two groups, I was in the back of the boat with my two elder brothers in the middle and a guide on the front, my parents went on a different boat with a guide.
It all was super fun in the beginning untill we got to a waterfall which we passed safely, but then things started to get scary, the river was filled with more falls and rocks started to reveal out of the water.
All of a sudden in one of the waterfalls I spotted something weird with my eyes, it was my own boat with my brothers in it and it was getting far, it took me a couple of seconds but then I realized? I'm in the water, I fell down and no one noticed(I was sitting in the back).
I started getting hit by many rocks and got stuck under one of them with my life belt, it took me a few seconds of panic till I managed to free myself up and screamed from the bottom of my lungs but nothing came out, luckily my brothers figured out I wasn't on the boat anymore and told the guide who stopped the boat and grabbed me out of the water.
We kept on rafting, I acted like nothing happened and I'm all good except for a bit of bleeding, while inside I was in a total panic. I wasn't used to handling with these sort of things, growing up in a over protective environment isn't all good after all.
After that scary event, once I had to handle with something I thought was a bit out of my league I just wouldn't and decided it was too much for me at the moment, passed and moved on.
Facing my fears-
At the age of 16 I woke up as a scared person, fearing fear itself, I decided it's enough of it and that I'm going to face my worst fears. I started doing research about water activities and decided to take a diving course, it was just pure amazing, relaxing and the best thing i've done in my life.
At that point I realized fears are just holding me back, I wanted to get rid of my fear of hights aswell, doing a bit of research and here I am taking a deep breath jumping from a plane with a parachute, watching the breathtaking views from up there, all of a sudden I'm a small child again without a single fear in my mind!
Moral of the story is- face your biggest fears, they are just emotions holding us back from our best experiences in our lives!
