Going to the beach to me is not about the sand and waves, it's about feeding the seagulls. Yes, I'm the one who brings bread to the beach to feed the birds. In the beginning, I had no idea people were giving me the stinkeye for feeding the birds. I guess I didn't notice the looks because I couldn't imagine that was a possible thought.
I don't recall how or when I learned that feeding birds is frowned upon. I guess it mostly about "poop on you" fear.
I have not stopped feeding the birds. I enjoy it to much. I only do it when there are no others around. I'm willing to take a plop in the eye or on my clothes for the exchange.
Oh you ARE a rebel!! Can you believe when I moved here to the lake my kids were young, like 7 and 10. Well they were giving the geese a few extra chips and my old man neighbor actually corrected them. They dont like the geese poop. Some people. I say feed away them if you want to. Forget the others and their stinkeye!

LOL! One time, my husband and I were paddling down a serene stretch of river when a hawk flew right over my head. I began to wonder "If he pooped right now, how long would it take before" and about then I got my answer... I mean, really, what is a little poop among friends, right?
