These photos were shot from a boat in Kaveri river at Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary near Mysuru, Karnataka; India. The sanctuary is home to 170 species of seasonal migrating birds as well as the regular local inhabitants.
As I watched from the boat, this young Black Headed Ibis was pleading with mom to feed it. You can see that mom's throat is stuffed with food.
Next thing I know is that, mom opened her long bill wide & the chick thrust its bill into it.
Apparently, the chick wasn't quite satisfied & wanted more. But mom would have none of it & shouted it down.
