It was last year when I was selected as one of the committee for this fellowships in field trip study in Aceh.
From what I know, I can honestly say that this event is incredible for those who want to broaden their knowledge in the field of conflict and peace resolution.
You will find a new perspective about the topic as you will learn with the experts.
So now the application for 2019 is officially opened. Each year, Rotary awards up to 100 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers.
Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the fellows into experienced and effective catalysts for peace. The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses.
In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,200 fellows. Many of them now serve as leaders at international organizations or have started their own foundations.
Benefits
Each year, The Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 50 for certificate studies at premier universities.
Master’s degree programs: Accepted candidates study peace and development issues with research-informed teaching and a diverse student body. The program lasts 15 to 24 months and includes a 2-3 month field study, which participants design themselves.
Professional development certificate program: Experienced leaders gain practical tools for promoting peace and international development during an intensive, 3- month program, which includes 3 weeks of field study and peer learning opportunities with a diverse group.

Application Process
Follow these steps to ensure that your application receives consideration.
Review the application guidelines and check the eligibility requirements and restrictions.
Research the curriculum and programs at each of the Rotary Peace Centers. You will be asked to rank two centers you prefer.
Prepare your application, including your resume/CV, essays, academic or professional recommendations, transcripts, and test scores. All materials must be in English. For certificate candidates, transcripts and scores are not needed.
Contact your local Rotary district before submitting your application to request an interview. District endorsement is a required component of the application process. TIP: Your local Rotary club can help you connect with your district. Use Club Finder to locate the club nearest you. Club interviews and recommendations are strongly encouraged but not required for candidates who have district support. *
Before any interviews, submit your online application to your district by 31 May.
Complete an interview with district representatives. Districts must submit endorsements to The Rotary Foundation by 1 July.
Await notice of the selection results in November. If you are chosen for a fellowship, you will be told at which Peace Center you will study.
Apply for admission to the university where your Peace Center is located. Being selected for the fellowship does not mean you have been admitted to the university.
*If an exceptional circumstance prevents your application from being considered by a district, you may be eligible for an alternative pathway to endorsement. Circumstances that may qualify for this option include, but are not limited to: not having a Rotary club in your country, district misinformation about the application process, and documented verification that the local district is unable to fulfill its endorsement duties. Additionally, if a candidate is from one of the following countries, they are eligible for an alternative pathway to endorsement: Cuba, Falkland Islands (Malvinas), Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Marshall Islands, Myanmar, Niue, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Saint Helena, Syrian Arab Republic, Tokelau, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Wallis and Futuna, or Yemen. If a district has vetted an application, interviewed the candidate, and determined they will not endorse the application, the candidate is not eligible for an alternative pathway to endorsement, nor will The Rotary Foundation consider their application. Candidates who would like to be considered for an alternative pathway to endorsement should select “I am requesting my application be considered for an alternative pathway to endorsement due to an exceptional circumstance” in the District field.
