Feminists ahoy! 12 reasons why only women can make Bitcoin great again![part 1] @BlockRush

Today is not women's day yet we will be celebrating women with our #celebratewomen tag - would you believe that this will the first post on it?

In today's report, @BlockRush will address a very controversial issue in the Bitcoin and Blockchain industry: gender inequality.

We have written about this subject in the past and will do it again to highlight the urgent need to address this gender inequality in the Blockchain industry.

While some argue that you women do participate in Blockchain development under gender neutral usernames, the evidience suggests something else.

According to Coin.Dance, gender interest in Bitcoin and Blockchain stands at 97% for men and 3% for women; very impressive. Motherboard has already highlighted this issue in one of their publications and we will not do that here.

Lets' face it. Bitcoin is not doing well, and in our opinion this is part due to the absence of women in the industry. You may be thinking; wait, Bitcoin is already great. No. Bitcoin can do better and we will not stress that any further here either.

We believe women have the potential to bring in a new development perspective into Blockchain technology and as both the largest sex and the largest consumers, they have the potential to give Blockchain technology the mass adoption we desire.

This post is very lengthy so we decided to break it up. In this first part, we will discuss only 4 issues, and we will continue the rest tomorrow.

[Disclosure: this post is very critical of men, if you have any issue let us resolve it in the comment section!]

1: Men are the cause of all of the problems

There is a saying;

too much of everything is bad.

Yes, an industry dominated by men to a staggering 97% is bad. There is no gender balance in this industry.

Men have their set of strengths, weaknesses and point of view. Women also have their own unique point of view, strengths and weaknesses.

The only ways to ensure that an industry works well is to have a balance in the number of men and women in it. That ways both sexes will complement and supplement each others' weaknesses and strengths.

While you may argue that women do participate in Blockchain technology, they do so as consumers and not contributors. There may be a good amount of women on Steem who may be doing well including @sweetsssj and @heiditravels.

However they are doing so only as consumers of Steemit. You cannot count one major female Steem, Bitcoin or Blockchain developer.

Whenever you see women on teams of Blockchain projects, they only hold non-technical positions such as CEO, project manager, marketing or something else. Do you even know of any female Ethereum lead developer?

Too much of men is bad, and that could be hurting the blockchain industry.

2: Women deserve it

Deserve what? - You may ask. Women deserve the honor.

It is not enough that up to this point, the entire Blockchain development has been campaigned exclusively by men? It is time women also claimed their share of the glory.

This planet is inhabited by both sexes, hence we must all contributed equally to the development of major technologies which will forever shape our civilization.

Isn't it enough that all the former makers of civilization who contributed to science, maths, democracy, human rights, medicine, and almost everything else were largely men?

Is it not time for women to also contribute to something as powerful and revolutionary as Blockchain technology? Will history not record any women as one of the primary developers of Blockchain technology?

If things continue the way they are, the first question your great grand child may ask in a history class will be:

"Tutor; when going through the records of all the founders of Blockchain technology upon which our current society is built, I noticed one strange thing - women were absent. Why is this so...were there no women present then?

Damn! What answer would you expert the teacher to give? Should the teacher say:

"Oh, back then women had better priorities like going shopping, cooking and taking care of their look... besides they were not capable of understanding the sophistication of the technology nor were they capable of coding....

NO. That would be a cruel answer. However, if we do nothing about this Blockchain gender inequality, then it will be the only impression your future great grand children will get about women in this generation.

3: Women are more than capable

Why do we say they deserve it? Because they are capable. Believe it or not, women are better mathematicians than men.

It was women who calculated the maths used to hack the German invincible encrypted communications machine.

It was also exclusively women who calculated the rocket maths of the first American spacecraft that sent a human into space. Women laid the bed-stone for the rocket science that Space X is perfecting today.

The first computer compiler and language(COBOL) was designed by a woman, Grace Hopper and all the early developers and programmers of computer were women. An exclusive women-only team programmed the very first computer, the ENIAC. Yes - that is real history you do not hear of often.

What do most modern male programmers have that woman do not have? Most are school dropouts and yet we have women with PhDs, Masters, Doctorates and scores of experience. Women are more than capable of coding a Raspberry Pi.

4: It is their time!

The usual excuse for the absence of women in contributing to defining moments in history  is that women were not given access to equal rights and opportunities as men. Fine, what about now?

Women in our generation have everything their male counterparts have in terms of access to justice, human rights and literacy. So why then is it that less than 5% of all contributors to the Blockchain industry are women?

Yes, women of today are better empowered and capable of contributing to civilization than most men are. We need to get over that ides that being a man make you more determined and capable.

Makes me feel real proud to be a woman haha

of course you should be!

I already feel unique being in the crypto space and on steemit as a female. You need to be a little techy just to buy coin and make posts. Heck, it was a herculean effort for me to create my very first video this week.

And though I don't have any yearnings to learn to become a developer,...

I will certainly celebrate women that do!!

you are more than capable of doing anything you want to do @mhrose

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Absolutely! I just don't feel drawn to development or coding.

you sound just like us @mhrose; we both love the work of coders and we love coders - however we are not into coding ourselves!

Did I miss the point of your post? It seemed like you were empowering women to have a stronger representation in development/coding.
