What is Feminism?
Feminism was a movement which was started quite recently sometime in the last two centuries. It concerns itself with accomplishing the same level or amount of freedom which men do. The main enemy of the feminist movement is the Patriarchy and involves the social and cultural upliftment of women. Quite surprisingly, a few feminist methods also target men and their cultural and gender roles and aim to free them from what society imposes on them. That's essentially feminism in a nutshell.
At least that's what it was supposed to be until it strongly deviated from its path and entered a place of gross measures where it achieves nothing and repeats the same mistakes which its enemy had in the past. But before we get to that, let's see why was it necessary to create such a movement in the first place.
Why Feminism?
Let's head back to sometime in the 18th century or beyond. The world wasn't exactly such a developed place back then. Things were harsh for all people including men and women. We humans hadn't formed a solid authority until that time and all power was more or less in the hands of the church and the clergy and ultimately, the religious texts which were manipulated by the church and clergy. When the French revolution took place, everything was turned upside down on its head, and after a lot of unnecessary violence, and ruin, a new order of government was established and new rules were laid down.
However, most of these new rules were laid down according to the systems of the old and that's where most of these problems arose. The holy texts in most cases portrayed a woman as the object of a man and imposed heavy restrictions on her. Some of the religions like Islam still follow these laws which advocate wife beatings among harsher punishment. These rules were still the basis of the new order of Government, and women yet again found themselves under oppression.
It wasn't until a while after the French revolution that women started realizing that they had fought in the French revolution for nothing and that their lives are more or less still the same as that which they lived before. Hence, was born the movement named Feminism with their major goal being to establish an equality of women with their male counterparts. This was merely the start of Feminism and it progressed through quite a lot of decades helping countless women achieve their freedom and reach their full potential in societies where females were suppressed.
How and Where is Feminism important?
Feminism is actually quite an important movement in society when it concerns how people interact with each other and how they think. Like I said, it has come down through countless decades shaping society and helping women reach their full potential. It contributes greatly to the entire society in the long run especially when you realise that women literally constitute half the society. The effect which Feminism has on society is that, now that Men and Women are treated as equal, and that alone greatly raises the productivity and the general workforce of a nation. Not only that, it also makes for much healthier relationships and personal interactions now that both men and women can behave freely with and around one another. It helps the society a great deal as well simply because of the more amount of people putting in the effort to build a society and make it a place worth living for all members involved in it. Most important of all, it lets a living being live in complete freedom and do as they desire. And anything less is simply unacceptable for any living being be it human, or non-human.
While most societies and nations realised that equality does not mean the same for everybody and made laws which made everyone equal by giving the deprived additional boosts and resources, there are still many places on Earth which simply don't have the inclination towards gender equality or feminism, be it cultural, social, or even legal. Most middle eastern countries still indoctrinate strict laws upon women whereas the men are comparatively freer, although not completely free to do as they please while remaining in society. In many places in India, females are killed at birth because households desire to have a male child. Similarly, there are many places in Africa where females aren't allowed to have their parent's property as their share of the inheritance. It is in these places where Feminism is really important and should be implemented with full effect.
Apart from that, generalising things, women have a tendency of having lower self-esteem than men. Even more so, women have a greater desire for freedom and a greater tendency of conformity when it comes to society when compared to men. This leads most women to feel trapped. This is where feminism helps them realise that they are indeed worth their salt, and they deserve the best that life can give them, much like what any living creature should be subject to.
Where it all went Wrong
Most places have already achieved feminism with a handful of them still resorting to the old ways and traditions in an ever-changing world. Yet, feminism is found absent where it is needed the most and is still actively participated in where women are not only free but also given additional boosts and benefits to achieve equality. Most women these days complain about the wage gap and all sorts of things which apparently are no more than mere fiction. The greatest problem with modern feminism is that most women don't understand what feminism is or use it as a means to unjustly achieve those things which they desire but can't achieve. There are countless victims of false harassment cases, and false domestic violence just so that the women behind them can reap the benefits of what's left behind. There is a gross imbalance of power leaning towards women, yet they continue to fight for benefits in the name of equality. Where is this equality which our predecessors fought for ages before our birth? What value is given to those fights and protests which enabled women to be free and equal(not with all the power in their favour) to men today?
Feminism has become synonymous with Misandry, or what is more commonly known as Man hating. Feminists today see just two objectives: Give women equality and Crush the patriarchy. This leads most women to think that feminism is about fighting for women with the only other sex remaining out there: men. This has led to a lot of misandry and a society where interactions between sexes are unhealthy, to say the least. Beyond that, most women use it as a tool to express their jealousy towards things in society and aim to drag down what they find superior to them, and ultimately pin all the blame on men. A few examples would be Sexualisation in games and other media, Female body ideals, and whatnot. An honest talk with yourself will make you more secure than destroying whatever this world has to offer, just so that you can be better or at par. It also goes on to include things like Mansplaining, or Manspreading which are things which these women's fragile little egos simply cannot bear. Below, is an answer which I found on Quora by Andy Wei:
Ah the patriarchy, it’s detestable! Women deserve more!
It completely blows my mind that women only get to spend 72 percent of domestic income while they contribute 47 percent to domestic earning! Men are so much more privileged in other aspects of society, it’s only fair that women should spend more!
But wait, there’s more! Men are strong, so why do diseases that primarily affect males get so much funding? Breast cancer may affect and kill fewer people than Prostate cancer, but why does it only get twice as much funding as Prostate cancer!? Bullshit! And to think that women-specific cancers only get 15 times more funding than men-specific cancers.
Men are so much more privileged in other aspects of society, it’s only fair that they deserve less funding!
Piggybacking on that thought, there needs to be more domestic violence shelters for women! Who in their right mind decided that women should be left on the street, unable to fend for themselves!? Men can, but women? Hell no! Organizations are wasting money funding the close to none DV shelters for men! Although men are more likely to be victims of DV, we need to put that money into DV shelters for women because men are so much more privileged in other aspects of society! This is only fair!
The current education system is limiting the potential of women! Only 55% of the students enrolled in university are women. The gender bias is undeniable! Men are so much more privileged in other aspects of society, why do they get to steal away education from hardworking, intelligent women?!
All of this is still not enough! As an intellectual feminist, I know very well that these discrepancies barely make up for all of the privileges men have.
For example... um.. they get to attend Boy Scouts??

The saddest part of all of this is that most of the women who are truly feminists don't have much influence over the thoughts of others anymore, while those which consider themselves as feminists actually hate their hate their fathers and resort to feminism as an approach to their daddy issues and decide to take the hate out on all men that they come across because they practically don't have anything to lose. Even if a woman does her worst to the guy, she's not getting prosecuted as she can easily play one of the sexual assault or harassment cards on the victim and get away with it. Even where the law is not involved, women cannot be the social wrongdoer, simply because women are nice and incapable of any real violence or hatred. We were all taught as children to respect women and to not hit them. But that is exactly what is being abused by modern women in the name of feminism. If a woman can kick a man in the nuts just because she doesn't agree with what he's saying, and the man can't do the same just because she's a woman, there is a real problem which we need to address here. Of course, the best solution would be more open-minded, and not hit people in the first place. However, the fact is that such behaviour being exploited by women is absolutely not what the feminist movement was about in the first place, and is repeating the same mistakes which society made when feminism first started out to achieve equality.
Feminism today, has in essence, become the enemy which it once sought to vanquish.
