Durga puja or durgotsava is the festival of hindu, mainly popular in states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Tripura in India. This festival is observed in the month of October.

This is the festival of multiday that features elaborate temple and stage decorations, performance arts processions.
Durga puja marks the battle between goddess durga and devil mahishasura. This festival represents the victory good over devil.
Durga puja is also called navaratri puja in some states of India such as in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra etc.
The festival begins on the first day with Mahalaya, marking Durga's advent in her battle against evil.

Starting with the sixth day (Sasthi), the goddess is welcomed, festival Durga puja is celebrated vigorously on full scale. The festival is end on bijayadasami (tenth day).
