Tomorrow i.e 30th September is Dussehra a very important festival for Hindus. Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami and is celebrated on 10th day of Navratri. As per Hindu calendar it is celebrated on the 10th day of the month Ashwin. Dussehra is celebrated for the victory of the good over the evil. It was the day on which Rama killed demon king Ravana and goddess Durga killed demon Mahishasur in a battle which lasted for 9 days. This festival is celebrated in different ways in each part of India. In Maharashtra there is pooja of weapons and worship goddess Mahishasura Mardini by taking darshan in the temple we call it as 'simolanghan' and offer leaves of apta tree as a symbol of gold. In some parts of India idol of goddess Durga is established in Navratri and Dussehra is the end of this celebration. In north India huge statues of Ravana and other demons are burned as a symbol of victory over the evil.
