Hello friends of steemit this time I will tell you a little about the Venezuelan culture, in this case of Maracaibo. State Zulia that is where I find myself residency as I had previously commented.
Today I will talk about the fairs of the Chinita, these fairs are of great importance for regionalists because with this we give entry to Christmas, which is a very important time for Venezuelan families.
History
This story tells that many years ago appeared on the shore of Lake Maracaibo, a tablet that an old woman found and took her home. Days later exactly on November 18, the old woman heard blows coming from the wall where she had placed the tablet, she ignored what I heard, but the blows were so intense, that she decided to approach where she had placed the table, and I noticed that a bright light was coming from her, and on the surface the image of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá had appeared, the old woman went out into the street and began to scream that she had seen a miracle.
The woman told the story to the locals, who began to venerate this invocation of the Virgin. Later, it was decided to build the Monument to the Virgin in the exact place where the woman's house was located, located in front of the Basilica of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá.
For this reason it is commemorated every November 18 the day of the virgin of Chiquinquirá.
The festivity begins with the lighting of the lights of the av. Bella Vista, where the whole avenue is decorated in such a way that it is impressive.
On November 17th, bagpipe dawns take place in different places of the region.
The central day that is on November 18 is a mass in honor of the Virgin and different processions, there is also a baseball game called the classic of the chinita where the local team plays the Aguilas del Zulia and any other team of the league.
I refer to these festivities, since they are one of the most important in the whole country, and this gives way to Christmas, which for us is the most important time of the year, because we share with our families, friends and we also enjoyed the Christmas dinner, the parties, and most importantly the love of our families.
