CLEVELAND, Ohio – Conor McGregor versus Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 represents one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history. And it takes place Saturday, Jan. 23 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
McGregor and Poirier first faced off at UFC 178 way back in 2014. They’re both different fighters now. Poirier has rebounded from that first-round TKO to McGregor by becoming one of the best lightweight’s in the world, even holding the interim title in 2019.

McGregor’s win against Poirier was one of the biggest stepping stones to McGregor becoming the biggest star in MMA history. He became a two-division champion and a sports icon. Poirier comes in as the higher-ranked fighter, having been more active in recent years. But McGregor is still the betting favorite.
UFC 257 will also feature another key lightweight fight in the co-main event. Former three-time Bellator Lightweight World Champion Michael Chandler will make his UFC debut against a game Dan Hooker. Both fights will be key in determining the division’s future with recently retired Khabib Nurmagomedov saying a “special” performance at UFC 257 could bring him back to the sport.
If that wasn’t enough, UFC 257 features a Northeast Ohio connection. Rootstown native Jessica “Evil” Eye will look to rebound from a loss to Cynthia Calvillo last year as she faces off with popular women’s flyweight Joanne Calderwood.
Early Prelims for UFC 257 begin at 6:15 p.m. on UFC Fight Pass. Prelims start at 8 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN+. The main card headlined by McGregor and Poirier kicks off at 10 p.m. exclusively on ESPN Plus pay-per-view.
