This article is written after watching the Friday's Practice sessions. I am writing this content from a place where the time difference is 12Hours ahead of Canada. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, is a characteristic circuit which requires engine power and brakes. Considering straight-line speed, Ferrari is expected to excel in Canada. It will be interesting to see what Mercedes have brought in with the new engine upgrade.
Practice 1
It is a fact that all teams except Mercedes is struggling with the new thinner thread tyres introduced by Pirelli for the 2019 Formula 1 races to avoid tyre blistering issue faced in 2018.
For the Friday Practice 1 session, most of the laps were focused on identifying the best set ups or tricks to solve problems that are faced by teams. Hence the laps timings doesn’t reveal the true picture . It was interesting to note that Ferrari and Red Bull did all its runs on medium compounds.
Here is the data from the laps which were clocked under 77 seconds.

Practice 2
Practice 2 was interesting for Ferrari, as it started to reveal the true pace of SF90H. The session for Hamilton was halted within 25 minutes as W10 EQ Power+ had brushed the walls at turn 9 and ended the session with damages to the rear. Charles Leclerc was the fastest man in this session, ahead of Vettel and Bottas by 0.074sec and 0.134sec.
Here is the data from the laps which were clocked under 77 seconds. I have to confess that i missed first 24 minutes of the session and hence Hamilton's data is not available. With the collected data, Vettel is fast and can be strong contender for pole position on Saturday.
