After being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2010, I wanted to understand why my body developed this disease and others didn't. After a period of self blame - why didn't I take better care of myself; am I making myself ill; why do I have these flare-ups and how can I control them - I decided I needed to take control of my own health. Visits to my GP consisted of lists of various conventional drugs that in all honesty made me much worst. I was also seeing my own Homeopathic Practitioner and Osteopath, which helped to a greater degree, however, I was still experiencing flare-ups regularly which impeded on my daily life and relationships.
To this day I still suffer from the occasional flare-up, however, the difference now is that I have the tools and skills to stop them before they start. Everyone is different with individual symptoms and specific triggers, however, I still question, why me? Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it. Despite being a practitioner and researcher, I am still continually searching for the answers. I believe that my FM was triggered from a terrible onset of mononucleosis (epstein barr virus) at the age of 11. I was an avid figure skater at the time in northern Canada and contracted the virus from my skating coach. Likely due to drinking from the same water bottle. The onset of this virus left me debilitated for 6-months. I had to stop going to school, skating and being with my friends for several months. I was exhausted for 6-months afterwards and to be honest, I never felt the same since.
Epstein Barr in homeopathic dilution does help when a flare-up ensues, however, during each episode I tend to have to individually prescribe per symptom. In short, no episode is prescribed in the same manner or with the same medications.
