The Immortals: A Story Told Through Journal Entries

in fiction •  7 years ago

I think the first movie idea I pitched was called the Immortals. At the time the song The Way by Fastball was on my store’s playlist. It brought me back to the time when I first got my license because it was on station most of the rock stations I listened to. I never gave the lyrics much thought when I was 20 but when I was around 30 something clicked. Would there be a deeper reason for a married couple to abandon their children? Something prompted the couple to leave and now the kids try to survive and figure out what happened to their parents.

The protagonist would have been the oldest son that was out of college but lived at home and didn’t work. I’m going to tell that story here through his journal entries. Some days there will be one and other days he’ll write more or not at all. I might borrow this format for an idea I have about the blob. Writing in first person is what feels the most natural to me and I don’t have to worry about pages and pages of dialogue which is odd because I want to write scripts.
