Peter went back to the office. He grabbed some more coffee and sat down behind his computer. He opened the file where he saved the photos of the crime scene. He scanned the photos and opened up one particular photo. “I need your view on things…that is what detective Hanson said …. “Now what do I see in these photos?”

He sat there staring at the photo and just couldn’t see anything in the photo that no one else could see. He grabbed the phone and started dialing detective Hanson’s number.

Could I meet you at your office?"

Less than twenty minutes later Peter stopped in front of the police station. It was a big dark building with huge doors in front. People walked in and out of the building and he had to wait while two police-officers brought in a cuffed suspect.

He walked inside and someone showed him to her office.  She wasn’t there, but they assured him that she would be back in a matter of minutes. He sat behind her desk. It felt awkward to be inside her office.  He scanned her desk and on the corner of the desk, he saw a photo of a man and small boy.

Oh great, she’s married” he thought to himself. “It’s only been 8 months…perhaps he was not yet ready to get involved with anyone.

All thoughts disappeared when detective Hanson suddenly spoke behind him.

“I am sorry to keep you waiting. How can I help you Peter?”

“I had a look at the pictures from yesterday’s crime scene. I was wondering if we could perhaps go back to the crime scene today.”

Sure, I was just heading back there. We have to go in your car... believe it or not, but mine is in the shop. Some drunk idiot drove into my rear last night. At least it’s getting fixed and I got to lock him up.”

She laughed, and waited while he opened the car door.

“Wow, a gentleman… I thought they were extinct."

Peter just smiled as he walked over to his side. He accelerated a little, but then drove at a steady speed. They drove in silence, but on the way Peter could feel her staring at him.

They arrived at the scene a few minutes later. He hardly parked the car when she jumped out of the car. What they found was not what they had expected.

The police barrier was broken.  She told him to stay put, and vanished into the building. She came out a few minutes later.

“Someone’s been here. They tampered with the scene. They definitely didn’t want us to find something. Let’s get back inside to see if they left anything behind.”

Peter followed detective Hanson inside. He took some more photos and once they were done, they headed out the door. Detective Hanson phoned the station to send over two guards to stand guard at the scene.

Peter decided not to go back to the office.  “Would you mind dropping me off at home, asked detective Hanson. It’s late and I need to fetch my car in the morning. I would really appreciate it."

"Sure thing. Just add your address to the GPS and we will be there in a jiffy."

Twenty minutes later they drove into her driveway.

Outside was a little boy playing and a man keeping watch while watering the garden.

Aunt Sarah, Aunt Sarah you’re home early today…the little boy shouted.

Sarah Hanson smiled and got out of the car, she picked up the little boy in her arms.

“Hey Peanut, are you helping daddy water the garden? Peter please come in and meet my brother and this little man Peanut."
