Chapter 34: Cameras Rolling

Emelia: Out, and alas, that was my lady's voice. Help, help, ho, help! O lady, speak again! Sweet Desdemona, O sweet mistress, speak!

Kirstin playing Desdemona: A guiltless death I die.

Emilia: O, who hath done this deed?

Desdemona: Nobody; I myself. Farewell! Commend me to my kind lord. O, farewell!

She dies.

Ten minutes later, the play ends to a standing ovation.  Justin was smiling and clapping vigorously with Blair whistling. The curtain reopened and the actors were all lined up side by side bowing and curtsying with Kirstin in the middle. Kirstin had a huge smile on her face as she spotted Justin in the crowd. She looked stunning and had an incredible gleam in her eyes.

The curtain drops again.  Moments later Kirstin opened a side door that lead to the back stage and waved Justin and Blair over. With the bouquet in his hand, Justin jumped over a few seats and ran towards Kirstin.

He handed Kirstin the beautiful bouquet and then gave her a huge hug.

"You're squishing the flowers.", laughed Kirstin. "They are gorgeous. Did you like the play?"

"I loved it! And you were awesome!"

"Hi Blair." Kirstin uttered just noticing him. "Please come back here and let me introduce you to the crew."

"I am Jerry Dribble and we are here at Geno Chronology Inc. We were invited here by CEO and majority stock holder Dr. Morten Filbrick. Dr. Filbrick claims he and his company have invented the first time machine. Or should I say time device as they call it. Currently we have two individuals checking Dr. Filbrick's cell phone to ensure us that there are no previous recordings. Dr. Filbrick is claiming that he is going to go back to the most publicized court case in recent history. The Ojay Simpson trial and return to the day, October 3rd, 1995 where Simpson was found 'Not Guilty'. Dr. Filbrick says he will record the event where Simpson leaves the courthouse. I am told from our perspective, we will just see him laying in this reclining chair and in less than six hours he will wake up. We will see his body here the entire time. I am sure you all have hundreds of questions as do I, but for now we film the event and hopefully can ask those questions afterwards. If you take a look over here we have many electrical wires, dials and a couple of incubators. I think they are ready now so we will continue to keep the cameras rolling."

Everyone was now quiet in the laboratory where Dr. Filbrick was reclining in the time traveling chair. He was speaking to Eugene who was giving him some final words.

Eugene whispered, "We are all ready now and everything looks good. Just remember to focus and I will see you soon."

Dr. Filbrick carefully set the device to the required longitude and latitude. He then press the final button as he closed his eyes.

Moments later, he was surveying a vacant park. Dr. Filbrick glanced around. He immediately knew he was not dreaming even though everything seemed a little opaque. After a while, he finally looked down and he saw an infant who was quickly developing. He also saw next to the infant his cloths and cell phone. He was awed at the speed the baby was growing into a little boy. A few minutes later it was a grown man. He saw himself as a younger man when he had greater muscle mass and a full head of dark hair. A couple minutes later lied an elderly man with gray thinning hair. Forgetting for a very short moment, Dr. Filbrick realized he had to enter the body. As he entered the elderly man's body, a strange sensation overcame his being. After a couple more minutes, he was feeling like himself again.

He put on his cloths and grabbed his cell phone. As he walked through the park, he could here a loud crowd in the short distance. He had a big smile on his face because he knew he was at the right location. As he walked further, the voices were considerably louder and he could see the courthouse building a short distance away. There was a huge mob there.

He took out his phone and started video recording the event.  "Here I am at the courthouse of the Ojay Simpson Trial. I have just left the year 2016. This is what I look like in 2016."

He turned his cell phone to point at himself and shot a short video selfie. The crowd was excited while waiting in anticipation, so Dr. Filbrick was of no interest to them.

"I am now making my way towards the front. Hopefully I can get to the front so you all have a good picture. Finally making his way to the front, he said, “We have a good view now."

After a couple minutes, the courtroom doors open to a cheering crowd. People were jumping up and down whistling and celebrating. Coming from the courtroom doors and surrounded by police and security guards, was a figure. Dr. Filbrick now had a perfect view.

However Dr. Filbrick did not see Ojay Simpson. Instead he saw a women. He then saw a news media person rush through the security guards and put a microphone in the women's face.

The news reporter quickly asked, "Mrs Katherine Time, how does it feel to be a free women? Isn't it good to know that the jurors made an exceptions for you because you were saving your son's life."

Dr. Filbrick's eyes almost popped out of his head. He just stood there in shock. He just watched the media swarm around Katherine as she was escorted into her car. He continued to stand there, even though the crowd was slowly dissipating. After a while, he was alone,  sitting on the steps of the courthouse  with his head in his hands.  After about an hour, he started gaining his composure. He started looking around and saw a newspaper stand. He looked at the date on the newspaper and it was 1999 and not 1995. He had arrived four years too late. As he started walking back to the park, he realized that when he returns, the media would be waiting for him. He couldn't let them see what happened and especially the release of Katherine Time.

The more he thought about it, the more he was getting himself upset. He started thinking to himself , 'I wonder if this was a set up by Justin. Maybe he knew we were spying on him and he purposely set up this trap. And then rubbed it in my face with his mom. Okay, I need to be calm. First, I must erase what I had  just filmed.  I will arrive back and quickly reset the time device and go back to the Ojay Trial. I will do it real fast and I will just explain to everyone afterwards that I had to reset one item. I will keep it simple.'

Filbrick made his way back to his spawning location where he waited. Many thoughts were going through his head while he was waiting. Many of them created panic and he had to constantly tell himself to calm down. Finally, it was time for him to travel back.

As he awoke in the chair, he immediately started seeing camera flashes. Panic set in again, but he kept his composure enough to quickly reset the traveling device and press the button.  Dr. Filbrick quickly entered the comatose state and traveled again. He did his best to focus, however his thoughts were getting disrupted because of the drastic recent events.

When he arrived, he found himself at a location that looked like the same park. The trees and park benches seemed to be different though. The first thing that occurred to him was what year is he in.  He walked towards the courthouse and found that local newsstand. Reading the date on the paper it read, December 17th 2015! He totally missed his mark again.

Dr. Filbrick was exhausted and had lost all of his patience. He was now getting incredibly mad. He glanced at a flyer that was adhered to a poster board. The top caption read: 'Justin Time'. Below, the caption read: His new book on Time Travel will be released at Universal Books on December 17th and he will be there to sign all books at 2:00pm.'  After reading that flyer, Filbrick was beside himself. He flagged down a nearby taxi and told the driver to go to Universal Books.

By the time the taxi arrived at Universal Books, Filbrick was having a nervous breakdown. He walked into the bookstore and saw people waiting in a line to have their book signed. Standing at the table was Justin with a huge book display behind him.

"I want to thank you all for your support. It means a lot to me. I also want to thank the employees of Universal Book store for such a warm welcome and setting up an amazing display. Now time for the signing.", announced Justin.

Once Filbrick heard that speech, he lost his control and yelled, "I have been a scientist for 50 years and your book is crap. It was full of loop holes that went against the laws of physics."

Justin was unaware of who this person could be, but suggested that they engage in a conversation after the book signing.

"Filbrick threw his hands in the air and started walking away as he yelled. "I am not going to waste one second of my time with you!"
