Located in the mountains at the heart of the Middle World this former national capital serves as a repository and study centre for the Recorders to find and piece together what remains of human knowledge.
Unlike most of the planet, which lies shrouded in a permanent state of cloud and fog, the altitude of this place brings it above the cloud base and while extreme storms are frequent, the balmy temperatures make for ideal growing conditions.
Highly militarised, the area is protected from lowlanders who are judged not have the self restraint to ration the available food. Mountainous regions the planet over now produce and provide food aid to the lower zones, each with their own set of values and survival strategy for the species.
