Drinking and Exploring A Haunted Mansion With @Jeezzle: A Steemit Diner Story

in fiction •  7 years ago  (edited)

The wind was howling and a flash of lighting streaked across the sky of Steemit City. @marxrab was finishing up her shift at the Steemit Diner when she noticed an envelope on the counter. Marx the rabbit picked it up and saw it had her name on it. Opening it she found an invitation from @jeezzle to have dinner at his home later that night.

Marxrab shivered....Jeezzle lived at the end of the street in a big creepy looking mansion. Rumors around town said it was haunted! But Marxrab is a good neighbor so she decided to venture out into the dreary weather to join her friend for dinner.

The house looked ominous as she hopped up to the front door and knocked.

The door swung open but no one was behind it. "Hello?" said Marxrab as she peeked her head in the door. Inside was an entryway with 10 doors and a staircase leading upstairs. No lights were on but a candelabra was sitting on a table illuminating the room. Shadows danced on the walls as the flames of the candles moved. No one was there. Walking inside, Marx's long rabbit ears heard noise coming from a door with a little plaque with "Dining Room" written on it.

Opening the door Marxrab was temporarily blinded by the bright light of the dining room. Stepping back she was shocked by what she was seeing...a Texas themed restaurant!! @jeezzle has a Texas theme restaurant tucked away inside his mansion! Jeezzle waved her over to a table and invited the bunny to sit down.

Foods popular in Texas covered the table: steak, ribs, thick cut french fries, Dr. Pepper, chicken fried steak, and more! The rabbit asked her fried why he had a restaurant in his mansion? He told her he once worked at the restaurant as a waiter but after striking it rich in Steemit City he bought the restaurant and enjoyed watching others bring him food.

After feasting on the lovely meal Jeezzle had prepared he gave his friend a tour of his mansion. As they sipped some of Jeezzle's favorite beers (check out his alcoholic beverage posts here and here) he showed her his game room, indoor swimming pool, a library, a movie theater, and more! As they hopped on the elevator Jeezzle warned Marx to never go to the Third floor of the house. He took her to floors one, two, four, and the attic but not the third floor.

When she asked him why, he told her a story that chilled her to the bone. You can read @jeezzle's entire story here. I won't spoil any of the scary details.

As it got late, Marx the rabbit decided it was time to go home. Jeezzle left her in the entryway to get her some food to take home. Standing there by herself the rabbit realized the room was growing colder and colder. The shadows dancing as the candles on the candelabra seemed to be moving and forming shapes. Looking around Marxrab realized that the shadows had taken the shape of people and they were surrounding her!

"Jeezzle? Is that you! You better be playing a joke on me" she yelled but received no answer. A shadowy figure grew closer and closer. Marxrab tried to flee but a shadow person grabbed her and the world went dark.

Opening her eyes Marxrab saw she was transported to a different room in the mansion. A woman in an old fashioned dress was nearby. The room looked different than when she'd seen it on her tour. It looked like she'd been transported back in time over 100 years. The decor looked like it was from the Victorian era and the woman dressed in clothing of that time period. When the woman spoke she ordered a shadow person standing at the door to cook the rabbit for dinner that night!

"No one's cooking me!" Marxrab cried in fear. Jumping off of the chair she was sitting on the bunny ran. The shadow at the door was too fast and grabbed the bunny as she ran towards the door. The world went black again.

When Marxrab woke up she was outside and Jeezzle was standing over her with a takeout carton of food.

"Whatcha doing out here rab?" Jeezzle asked?

Unable to remember most of the night Marxrab was confused. She remembered arriving at the house and having a wonderful dinner with her friend but that was all. Thinking she'd had one too many beers the rabbit figured she must have enjoyed herself too much and blacked out. @jeezzle called her a taxi to take her home to the Steemit Diner.

Only remembering all the fun she had, Marxrab looked forward to her next trip to visit Jeezzle's mansion.

Cute story. It might be enjoyed by Marxrabs little baby bunny at bedtime one night to see and be able to share these adventures in the future.

Oh yes. I'll save this one for her along with all my other ones.

Fantastic! I really do think this is the best story you've written yet......... and not just because it's all about me. Well maybe that has something to do with it. ;) Great stuff.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. This one was a lot of fun to write. I think the last few I've enjoyed the most. I think I've finally found my groove with them.
