Marvel's Inhumans, Episode 4: Make Way for... Medusa! reviews

in fiction •  7 years ago

Moving from its disastrous first couple of episodes, Inhumans finally appears to be picking up its slack. Last night’s episode focuses mainly on Medusa’s desperate attempts to get to her husband Black Bolt, and her deviation from her parent’s ideals. After surpassing many challenges, and with the help of her newfound friend Louisa whose geeky wit is one of the highlights of the episode, she is at last successful.

Medusa and Black Bolt reunited

Meanwhile, we get to see just how much influence Maximus has built up on Earth, as the unsuspecting geneticist Evan Declan is revealed to be working for him. Through them, we are also made aware of just how much the inhumans on Attilan, pure descendants of the original inhuman ancestors, differ from their distant relatives so far seen in the Marvel Universe, and with this knowledge, Maximus might just be able to achieve what Dr. Holden Radcliffe of Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. had attempted, and change himself from an ‘ordinary human’ into a full-fledged inhuman.
Another longstanding question and criticism is also partially answered. Since the very first previews dropped, critics have commented on the lacklustre look and feel of Attilan which many assumed would be a rich technological hub. However, Medusa revealed to Louisa today that many of Earth’s technology were beyond them, and that they rely more on their abilities to get things done.

Medusa and Louisa

Elsewhere on the Island, the other members of the inhuman royal family are also developing friendships and attractions to humans. Karnak and Crystal both find themselves drawing closer romantically to their human companions, and Gorgon who has finally split from his ridiculously loyal surfer friends, admits he has become attached to them. With Karnak incapacitated and Gorgon without resource, the question of whether or not the royal family will ever be reunited remains in the air. And if they will all return to Attilan if they are. Will they ever get to actually stop Maximus, or are his actions all part of a ‘divine’ plan?
Perhaps Maximus purpose as a ‘humanized’ inhuman is to bring their civilization home to Earth.
