"Dagon" is an excellent work from HP Lovecraft in the public domain. The concept of thalassophobia is used to describe the fear of the ocean. The sense of being totally at the mercy of nature and distant from safety is a big component of thalassophobia. Lovecraft delivers a enjoyable short read that explores this emotion and adjacent similar thoughts.
I have yet to read any of Lovecraft's work, but it has been my intention for some time. Thanks for the link, I will follow up with that story, and the website in general.

Yes I did. I haven't read through any more of his works, but have the page bookmarked now for a later visit.
