The Kraken is a giant monster squid about a mile and a half in length that terrorise sea travelers from Jules Vernes iconic book 20 thousand leagues under the sea. It also has its roots in fishermen tales from Norway and Greenland.
Anyway if it was real a lot of history would change because sea travel would not be the same and in the mordern days world government would want to track it down with submarines to either kill or capture it to study it.

I have lived on the Atlantic Ocean shoreline my whole life, seen some crazy stuff out there, never a kraken, but I could definitely tell some tall tales ☺

Just not quite as big. we have to remember that people often had poor eyesight and they wsaw whatever it was at sea - probably when they were scared or drunk.
And if you know any fisherman, you know that the size of the fish increases with each telling of the tale.
My vote is for real. And a for sure on the hunting down stuff. That is what people do.
