A Father's Tear

in fiction •  6 years ago  (edited)

There was always this bittersweet connection between Adil and his father. He loved his father more than anyone else in this world and his father loved him more than anything as well. But they were opposite in nature. His father was very precise and punctual. Everything had to be tiptop for him and anything that went against discipline bothered him. He needed the lunch every day at the same time, whenever he had to go somewhere, he would prefer to reach there at least five minutes before and if he became late because of somebody that would make him mad. But he was so amazing and sweet most of the time and he would sacrifice everything for the family. Adil didn't see him for years to buy new clothes for himself and he would buy everything good for the kids. He was a real role model as a father, his hero.

But Adil was completely different, lazy and always late. Sometimes he asked himself, is he really his father's son. But he was a brilliant student as his father forced him to be at least disciplined with his studies. The family was always in economic crisis. It was hard for his father to maintain the family with his small income. Sometimes, Adil asked himself how a disciplined person like his father became a failure in life?

Adil was in the 12th grade and was preparing for his final exams. He wanted to admit to a very good college after but his family's condition was not good in the financial way as I said. It needed at least 100 euros for him to stay in the capital and study there. But he was a town boy and his father's income was not that much as much he would need. But he had a rich uncle who was living abroad and they promised him that they will give him the money he needed. The exams were over. Adil spent the free time working with his father in the field. He expected that he will pass the exams with good points and he did.

Now, it was time for him to go for the entrance exams. He applied for some. He passed the written and they called him for the oral exam. Among all the colleges he applied, the best college in the country called him for oral as well. He was so happy. Next day he went to the oral exam and he passed. He went back home as it was time to pack his bags and to find his home in this big city called Dhaka. That day he was coming from the market with his father in a rickshaw and his uncle called and said to his father that he is in a financial problem so he can not help Adil with the money and that was it. The father and son were looking at each other and tears were coming out of his father's eyes. That was the first time Adil has seen his father cry.

Great story rifkan. Sad, but still uplifting in a way, because it has some real heart to it.
