Everyday Heroes #3: The Ultimate Survivor

in fiction •  7 years ago

Hello everyone, and welcome back to my series of posts where I take people from my everyday life, and make them in to superheroes. As a matter of fact they are already heroes, each in their own way. I love to find that special something that makes us strong and different, and I try to write a (almost) fiction story. So, let's meet our new hero!

Our new hero is The Ultimate Survivor, a strong woman born under a lucky star, but had to fight for her life more than once. Even at her birth, the struggle began. She was born in a stormy night, rain was pouring and her mother got soaking wet while trying to get to the hospital. She was all alone, no one to hold her hand, not even a single person to welcome the newborn.

Thunder and her first breath intertwined, making the transition even more dramatic than it already is. Our hero saw the bright hospital lights, heard the storm and began one interesting life.

Her childhood was tough, but like many others heroes that made her even stronger. She had to use her imagination, since there was no money for toys, but that same imagination made her an excellent writer one day. Small town she grew up in, became even smaller over time, or her mind just got to opened. Walls, houses, streets and the whole city suffocated her and her wondering spirit. She loved the nearby forest and little stream, where she would often go to, just to be alone with her thoughts.

She was hungry most of the time, but that didn't brake her, she made every meal count. Headaches she had all her life were just an indication of poor nutrition, the doctors thought. But as she grew older, they progressed. One day, the storm came again but this time it was inside her head. The pain was unbearable, splitting her skull in two, flashing lights and she could feel her body falling without control. Brain aneurysm.

Next thing she remembered were the hospital lights.

"What? Did I just got back to the beginning?"

She wondered..
Her left arm and leg were paralyzed, she couldn't speak or get out of the bed. Aneurysm she barely survived left her with such damage, that all experts believed she wouldn't live to see another day. But she did.

They didn't know one important thing, she had her mind and not much more, most of her life. The battle began there, and it will end there too. She was a hero, and they don't give up without a fight. She decided to get better, had conversations with herself for days before she could talk to anyone else. Remembering words was the hardest and most frustrating part. But she practiced!

The Ultimate Survivor did just that, survived and moved on. She was counting on the fact she broke the odds many times, let's just keep it that way. The feeling in her arm and leg began to come back, so she exercised more. The day she left the hospital standing, was the last day she ever went there.

She listened to her intuition and body, and moved in to the mountains.

There she found her strength again, walking, picking mushrooms, making herbal teas, and most importantly getting her light back. Our super hero not only survived but became a whole new person after her rebirth!

There is a super-hero hidden in everyone, we just tend to take it for granted. Be sure to find at least one of them, and leave me a comment saying what makes them special!

With love,
Tamara

Thank you for sharing another nice post.
In my opinion most women are super heroes. Majority of men can't endure what we are capable for.

Absolutely!! Thank you for your comment, and just keep up with your blog!

Hello @tamacvet
Your series on the Ultimate Heros ,indeed has been motivational. I want to use this opportunity to appreciate you greatly for coming through with this one and recognizing that our heroes in us is greater and stronger than our odds. Finding her strength was the beginning of her moving the mountains. The assertion could have a whole lot of inherent meaning as it implies determination and a comeback to success.
Thanks for sharing. Nicely written

Thank you so much for this positive feedback, it means a lot to me!

When are you going to find mine?

Well, I write about the people I know in person. But, fiction is amazing, so I can make anyone a superhero.
