For the Love of Telepathy - Chapter 7

“I’m sorry I made you cry,” says Dominique. “But I have good news. I’m coming to TIFF.”

“You know I don’t go to TIFF…” replies Adeline.

“Don’t you have live streams?” asks Dominique.

“Sometimes but I have to search on Twitter normally to find them. Plus I have work. When are you scheduled to show up?” says Adeline.

“Fifteenth, 7 p.m. at Roy Thompson Hall.”

“Ok I can make it home then from work to watch you on the carpet,” says Adeline.

“Alright good. Are you still mad at me?” asks Dominique.

“Yes. You said you loved me. Two years later you have a baby instead of a divorce. What the hell?” says Adeline.

“Look, I’m trying my best to get out of my marriage but she’s threatening me and my career,” says Dominique.

“Now a kid is involved and who knows, you have more with that stupid bitch,” says Adeline.

“Those are not my intentions. I really want to be with you Adeline. Please don’t give up on us or me,” pleads Dominique.

“Look, it’s going to take some time to get over this…” says a tearful Adeline.

“Aren’t you happy we’re having a baby together? I mean supposedly, according to the psychic Miss Beta,” says Dominique.

“I need another psychic. I’ll call another one but one that knows who you are, once you’re in Toronto,” says Adeline.

“Why?” questions Dominique.

“I need another opinion,” says Adeline.

“Ok… who you gonna call?” quips Dominique.

“Well not Ghost Busters. Someone named Joline. I have used her since 2009,” says Adeline.

“Wow that’s a long time. It’s 2015 now… has anything come true yet?” asks Dominique.

“No. This is the year I’m supposed to meet you or something she told me back in 2009. I only contacted her because I kept seeing synchs everywhere of you and I asked her what was up with that,” says Adeline.

“Do you think we will meet at TIFF?” asks Dominique.

“No… I’m not going down there, you know that. Plus how would I get to you with all your fans there?” says Adeline.

“I don’t know. Call her when I’m in Canada then,” says Dominique.

“Ok then,” says Adeline.

“What exactly did she say to you in 2009?” asks Dominique.

“Here, I’ll show you the email,” says Adeline, as she swipes her iPhone up and presses on Safari.

“It’s not a coincidence, there is some sort of connection there… I see some form of professional connection, but within a sixth from today (days, months, etc.) you will see why,” says Adeline. “It’s been six years now. Where’s the professional or romantic connection? Like I don’t even screenwrite anymore! I quit two years ago. How do we meet if we’re not in the same industry or circles?”

“Divine chance,” says Dominique.

“Divine’s ass better hurry up. I can’t stand this feeling of anxiousness and being away from you physically,” says Adeline.

“I know. I feel the same way. I think we are sharing emotions actually at this point. You breathe, I breathe. Your heart beats the same time as mine,” says Dominique.

“Weird. I still don’t like the fact you lied and said you couldn’t see my hairy legs when I first contacted you,” says Adeline.

“Hairy legs were the last thing on my mind when you contacted me,” laughs Dominique.

“Why don’t we have sex anymore?” asks Adeline.

“I give you sex… just not intense sex. In the car… on the bus… at work,” says Dominique.

“I want intense sex going from the bottom all the way through my core to the top of my throat again,” says Adeline.

“Wait til in person,” says Dominique.

“How long must I wait?” says Adeline.
“How much more can you take?” sings Dominique. “Before loneliness will cause my heart, heart to break.”

“Everything is a song with us,” says Adeline.

“Or something…” says Dominique. “Do you still think you’re crazy?”

“Sometimes…” says Adeline.

“Turn on your Twitter and go to my profile,” says Dominique.

“Why?” asks Adeline.

“I want to show you something, stupid,” says Dominique.

Adeline opens up her Twitter app and searches for Dominque.

“Since when do you have a Twitter?” says Adeline.

“Since a couple months ago. You can see I barely have followers. Anyways that’s not the point. Now go back to your page,” says Dominque. “Now back to mine. What do you see?”

“You fucking blocked me? How…. How are you doing this?” asks Adeline.

Dominique is silent as he manoeuvers Adeline’s hands back to his page and back to hers, blocking and unblocking for a good solid minute.

“Now do you believe I am who I say I am?” says Dominque.

“I don’t know what to think right now. Unblock me,” says Adeline.

“Nope. I’m keeping you blocked,” says Dominique.

“But why?” yells Adeline.

“I don’t want you talking to me on there. Talk to me in your head,” says Dominique. “I just wanted to prove somehow that I’m real Adeline. You’re not crazy. You’re talking to a separate being.”

“I want to marry you though. How do I marry you!!!!!” cries Adeline. “We’ve been talking since mid-2013. I’m tired of telepathy. I want to see you in person and talk in person.”

“I don’t know. I really don’t know how we’re going to meet. Maybe that Joline psychic woman knows something.”

“Ok,” says Adeline. “I’ll contact her on the fourteenth from work, one day before your arrival.”

“Sounds good,” says Dominique.
