Wow! Interesting to see that the mystacinidans actually have/might have DNA, mRNA, etc…, basically using the same mechanisms as life on Earth.
I always wondered if life in other planetary systems would have the same building blocks as in our biodiversity.
I've read your previous series on this story and you mentioned that mystacinidans use D-aminoacids, instead of L-aminoacids.
I wonder how complex developing a chimera between two very distinct species, at a molecular level, would be. Two proteins, with the exact same aminoacids, but one carrying D-aminoacids and the other L-aminoacids, would probably be different structurally (I'm not completely sure though). So, converting one of the species molecular structure to hybridize with the other seems almost impossible. At the least with the current tech, so I bet this project Nina won't be successful and Rick can relax :)
We'll see what happens next!
