WHAT IS FIDELITY?
By A.A PYM

In our time, morality or moral integrity is fast becoming old fashion and immorality is swiftly becoming the in-thing. People tend to look down on morally upright individuals. Because of the prevalence of immorality, some have come to describe this era as "an era of moral rebellion." Is moral fidelity still necessary in a relationship? First, we will define what fidelity and morality means.

WHAT IS FIDELITY?

Longman Contemporary English Dictionary Defines Fidelity as:

"When you are loyal to your husband, girlfriend etc., by not having sex with anyone else"

Fidelity is the quality of being faithful or loyal. Its original meaning regarded duty to a lord or a king, in a broader sense than the related concept of fealty. Both derive from the Latin word fidēlis, meaning "faithful or loyal". In modern human relationships, the term can refer to sexual monogamy. In western culture this often means adherence to marriage vows, or of promises of exclusivity or monogamy, and an absence of adultery.

WHAT IS MORALITY?

A set of standards for good or bad behavior and character. In our society many argue that morality is defined based on personal principles of right and wrong but this definition if flawed as it would create a chaotic society. As humans created by a superior being, he has given us sets of principles to live by and failing to live by these moral code amounts to missing the marks of morality.

From time immemorial, we see that those who live by these moral codes are found to be happier, healthier and experience a kind of inner calm that can only be described by such individual. Living in accordance by the moral code given to man by his maker is the best life ever.
