Weird Russian character you should know before going to the 2018 FIFA World Cup

2018 FIFA World Cup takes place in Russia and a lot of people are already thinking of booking tickets to there. Russia is an exciting country and people are very welcoming to foreigners.
The politics may have made the Russian image low to a degree, but the culture they have is gonna be an amazing experience for those who are planning to watch football matches live.

Above all, it is recommended not to dig into politics much, because Russians want to make friends and prefer not to spark and kind debate on this.
If they do not smile to you, it is nothing to worry about. Russian people may seem too serious to strangers, but once you get to know them and get acquainted, they become your best friends. You can expect even to be invited for "50/50". 50 literally means 50 grams of alcohol, but when it comes to drink vodka, it is never 50 grams.

If you are ever invited for home-visiting in Russia, never go without a present. It is a tradition to take something to host. The present does not have to be any expensive item, but a box of chocolate, a bottle of wine or any souvenir from your country is so much appreciated.

Once you are a guest, you may find slippers like the following. It is usual to wear them inside home, although you are not that much required.

If they say to you "S legkim parom" (С легким паром) or they try to translate it into your language, which may literally mean "happy washing up" and sounds a bit meaningless, just say "thank you". It is always said by Russians after one takes a bath, shower, or sauna.

Remember about telling a nice toast while drinking. If you are given a speech while drinking, say at least two sentences. Russians love long toasts. If you just say "Cheers", it does not make any sense, and Russians find it very boring or feel that you are a bit of irrespective.

This is for now. Russia is a big country with various cultures. If you visit, you will find a lot of interesting things that are worth sharing.
