I learned about the Fifty Word Contest originally due to some conversation in Discord at the #fiction-writing channel; however, this specific contest I found luckily through the Feed on Steemit.
Here's my entry, a quick-snippet fan-fiction extension to the Lord of the Rings:
Gandalf leaned heavily on the forked tree, gnarled limbs swooping. Brows furrowed, wreckage far behind, he and Frodo paused. He turned, knowing this place, and gasped... he was home! The earth smelled of magic. He handed over his Amber Ring and died. Within Frodo's mind he was alive again, new.
