Cuddling you in my arms was the greatest pleasure ever.

Your countenance — sweet, calm, cordless. So perfect. So beautiful.

I rocked you and held you tightly, not accepting the fact.

Twenty-five days on earth.

You left us on Christmas day. Painful yet joyful knowing you grew wings and freedom.

This is my first attempt joining @jayna's #fiftywords contest, you can view the details here.. Been looking at it and some other entries from the freewriters but not willing to join because I am not good with creating short meaningful story. But I want to challenge myself today. And I know there is always room for improvement. You can tell I am seriously trying my best. Lol...

The prompt is 'child'. A child is a precious gift from God. Ever since spending weeks at ICU, cheering on my son who fought for his life, and the grief I saw from other parents losing their child in their arms, I treasure my children even more. I learn the greatest lesson in ICU. Hence, this micro-story was inspired by it.

You will really treasure life when the life is about to end. To witness the ending is always painful, yet the family has no choice but to go through and let go willingly yet unwillingly. And when the body was taken away, I literally broke into pieces hearing the wailing and crying from the parents. I am glad my son is alive today. Let us treasure everyone's life. So dear. So precious.

Love,
Jade💕

What beautiful, but sad words...

Hi @jayna, thank you for dropping by. I feel so honored.

It was the exact feeling when I wrote this. Also, I am really not good at writing stories but was inspired by you and your mini-workshop. Looks like I'm going back to class again to relearn writing. 😊

Thank you for hosting this contest for us.

Hi @iamjadeline, this is indeed a sad story. I'm happy for you that your child made it. It must have been heart-wrenching to go through that, and to watch other parents experience that loss. I cannot imagine.

I had not had a chance to comment yet. The commenter above is @jaynie. :) We have very similar names!

One other thing. Please be sure to add a link to this story in the comments of the contest post so that all 50-word participants can find it. Thank you for participating!

Oh my... Is either I need to have my eyes checked or my eyes blurred due to Christmas present wrapping. 😜

So embarrassed for the mistake though...

Oh yes I must drop it at the contest post. Thank you for the reminder.

Thank you @jaynie for dropping by here and make it livelier here. 💃💃💃xoxo

Oh that's really heart touching.

God bless to you and to your children.

Yes, indeed it was. I could not think on it too long or else I would tear. I wrote based on what I saw at ICU, happened on others.

Thank you for being here @coolguy222 :)

@iamjadeline so sweet. I love how the sadness of the story is still upwards looking, hope possessing. ❤️ Will treasure those around me more ((:

That is a difficult challenge to birth someone and then lose them shortly after birth. Tough.

Touching it is. Can't stay indifferent.

To life and and all who treasure it!

Thank you so much @manoldonchev 😊
