“¿Para qué quieres ser político?” Me dije en una introspección a mi ser cuando no tenía ni la más remota idea de lo que quería para mi destino. Tenía 15 años y aún no entendía el mundo, aún no entendía como podía existir alguien que no moviese ni un solo dedo por ayudar. Para eso te eligieron, ¿no? Eso motivo a que me preguntara si quería tener poder o quería ayudar a los demás.
Sin duda alguna la respuesta definitiva fue la segunda. ¿Por qué vivir si no es para servir? Eso hizo que diera un vuelco de 180° a mi existencia, comencé a ver la vida de otra manera, de repente ya no era tan importante adquirir el último iPhone o vestir con el más reciente diseño Armani, de repente solo valía pensar en ideas que plantaran cambios tangibles en la sociedad, cual semilla que riegas hasta verla crecer…
Si la regla de la naturaleza es vivir para los demás, ¿Quién soy yo para aponerme a ella? Así desperté un día y decidí que no habría vuelta atrás, ya sabía que era lo que quería para mi vida; “Solo quieres alimentar tu ego” me acusaron una vez, luego comprendí que la acusación partía de la decepción existente dentro de aquellos ojos testigos de las muchas veces que creyeron equivocadamente en un proyecto fallido, yo también pase por lo mismo.
De esa manera fue que comencé mi aprendizaje, observando de lejos y a veces de cerca el pensar de partidos, movimientos, fundaciones, políticos… No compagine con ninguno, no halle un lugar en el que me pudiese sentir a gusto, sabiendo que no hay dobles intenciones de trasfondo, sin un beneficio individual sobre los colectivos, que no sean del colectivo de esa misma cúpula, sino del interés del ciudadano de a pie.
Y como no encontré un sitio de esas características, opte por ser yo mismo quien armara un grupo que rompiera el molde, y es así como, junto a este pequeño pero comprometido equipo, daremos inicio a un trayecto sin fundaciones fantasmas o lucros particulares. Solo con las ganas de hacer bien las cosas y aportar nuestro granito de arena, presentamos ante ustedes: Fundación Merú, con la intención de hacer esto realidad.
Idealizado como una fundación sin fines de lucro, nuestro fin es promover la formación de jóvenes como líderes y agentes de cambio, cultivando la ciudadanía y los valores que sirvan de cimientos a una mejor sociedad: Inspirar conectando a la juventud con el liderazgo social y empresarial, actuar cambiando nuestro entorno por el bien común y hacer diferencia con nuestras diferencias.
Queremos promover los valores de solidaridad, respeto, sensibilidad e inclusión, uniendo a todos con un mismo sueño, ser mejores ciudadanos. Y entendiendo que lo que vale es lo que haces por los demás, queremos impulsar y fomentar la creatividad, el emprendimiento, la innovación social, la democratización del conocimiento y el desarrollo sustentable, aupando a que dejen su huella.
Solos no lo lograremos y, aunque actualmente somos 5, contigo seremos 6 los que apostamos a la juventud responsable y emprendedora, social y empresarialmente. Cuantos más seamos, más fácil podrá ser realizar este sueño. Porque este proyecto también es tuyo, construyamos juntos un cambio. Yo soy Jesús Barreto y esta, es mi visión.

So I woke up one day and decided there would be no going back, I already knew what I wanted for my life; "You only want to feed your ego" they accused me once, then I understood that the accusation was based on the disappointment existing within those eyes that witnessed the many times that they mistakenly believed in a failed project, I also went through the same thing.
That's how I began my apprenticeship, observing from a distance and sometimes closely the thought of parties, movements, foundations, politicians ... Do not compare with any, do not find a place where I could feel comfortable, knowing that there are no doubles intentions of background, without an individual benefit on the collective ones, that are not of the collective of that same dome, but of the interest of the citizen of on foot.
And since I did not find a site like that, I chose to be the one to set up a group that broke the mold, and that is how, together with this small but committed team, we will start a journey without ghost foundations or private profits. Only with the desire to do things well and contribute our bit, we present to you: Meru Foundation, with the intention of making this happen.
Idealized as a non-profit foundation, our goal is to promote the formation of young people as leaders and agents of change, cultivating citizenship and values that serve as a foundation for a better society: Inspire connecting youth with social and business leadership , act by changing our environment for the common good and make a difference with our differences.
We want to promote the values of solidarity, respect, sensitivity and inclusion, uniting everyone with the same dream, to be better citizens. And understanding that what counts is what you do for others, we want to promote and encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, social innovation, the democratization of knowledge and sustainable development, encouraging them to leave their mark.
Alone we will not achieve it and, although we are currently 5, with you we will be the ones who bet on the responsible and enterprising youth, socially and entrepreneurially.
