God helps his children: And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly

After receiving the holy spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), the disciples of Jesus go out to preach the good news, but suffer harassment, so the book of the acts of the apostles tells us about the first persecution towards the church. Oppression was an evil that Jesus had to face and that the primitive Church in its early days had to suffer, in a world built on lies the truth of the gospel made many uncomfortable, and especially many powerful men.
Peter, accompanied by the apostle John, performed the healing of a paralytic from birth in the Temple of Jerusalem, which produced a great uproar of people, and Peter, with this miraculous sign, took the opportunity to preach to the people who approached him about the Kingdom of God. The high priests ordered the arrest of the disciples and upon questioning them forbid them to preach about Jesus. The book of the acts of the apostles tells us what happened next: "But Peter and John replied, ´Which is right in God's eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.´ After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened." Acts 4:19-21.
In front of persecution, it is then that the book of the acts of the apostles tells us how again the disciples pray to God for help and the spirit blesses them and assists them with his spiritual gifts, God helps his children:
"´Now, Lord consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.´
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly" Acts 4:29-31.
Following the example of the disciples, Jesus calls us to bear witness to the Kingdom of God, to achieve the common good in society.
