Capsule Film Review: Drive (2011)

I went to see Drive the day after it premiered in theaters.

I wasn't really a big fan of Ryan Gosling, and to be honest, I expected the film to be nothing more than your average cliche heist film.

Boy, was I wrong! What a great film!

I loved everything about it. The slick neon cinematography. The 80's synth style soundtrack. The amazing character development. The fact that you never learn Driver's name and you don't really care. The whole movie was simply stunning.

It was an action flick with just the right amount of drama. Driver is a tough guy with feelings. You can see that he cares deeply for Irene and Benicio, and even convinces himself that they could be a family, even though deep down I think he knows that can never happen.

Drive is one of those films you have to watch several times to take everything in. I think I've seen it 5 times so far!

Great review BTW!
