Chinese Version of Bohemian Rhapsody Censured

in film •  6 years ago

Oscar winner, The Bohemian Rhapsody was premiered in China, but without the part of Freddies sexual orientation and without mentioning that he had died of AIDS. The fans of the movie stayed confused after watching the movie, because the film didn’t have sense without those facts about the famous singer.

For example, they have censored (deleted) the scenes were Mercury reveals to her girlfriend that he isn’t heterosexual. Also, in the part were Freddie is telling the band that he have AIDS, dialogue was censured and released without the sound.

It is interesting that when Chinese television Mango was transmitting The Oscar Awards ceremony, they had changed translation of Rami Malek words. Describing his act, he said the words “gay man” and the Chinese translation was “special group”.

All this pissed off LGBT groups all around the globe, but it looks that these things will not change “over the night” in China. This kind of censorship is also backed up by Chinese government and Chinese media didn’t raise their vote against it at all.

This is how it was on Oscar Awards
