The Unprotected:
You bruised the children!
Alongside of the pedophiles who hands touched their lives changing them forever.
Yes, your Guilty!
By association you’ve committing a crime to protect by Loyalty to Codes of Silence,
And hide your familiar family of thieves, called priest.
You caused tears and woes of remembrance of trusting turned into fears.
Painfully causing the children in men and the children in woman to cry aloud inside their hearts.
With perplexity at losing their childhood to wolves in sheep clothing.
As a lamb, recalling images in mind, that deeply left them asking the question, why me?

Upon watching the Film Spotlight I really felt that The Catholic Church acted as a secret society. And, some Secret societies take advantage because they feel they will never be found out. Societies are groups of people who share common symbols, language values, and norms. The Catholic Churches also fall under the agenda of a Co-Cultures; which are groups of people who share values, custom and norms related to Mutual interest or characteristic besides their national citizenship. They are also considered an Organization, and an organization means structure. The structure consisted of practices and procedures along with relationships provided in the predictability of its members to fulfill their individual and collective goals.

The Catholic Church had a lot of money, and use it to their advantage, to hide things with payoffs, to the paying of lawyers, and to participating in political favors. The Catholic Church was structured in a way that made it easy for them to hide things without it being made known to outsiders. The way the Catholics whole organization acted upon in the molestation of these young children was very distrustful. This film showed the Catholic Church acting as an in-group, and an in-group is a group of people in which a person identifies with and I feel based on this film that the Catholic Churches was identifying with their own and ignoring the protecting the young children and the families they belonged to.

This movie also showed the Catholic Church acting as a Closed System Organization with its centralized power structure right under the Pope’s guidance. I saw some actions of the Catholic Church in this film compared to a low-powered distanced cultured society as well. I find it so surprising that we allowed molesters to continue their predatorial ways towards children with open access to them daily and the only interruption to the priest was them being moved from state to state or country to country; only to repeat this vicious molesting cycle all over again. The Individualistic culture of these priests was simply disgusting.

Secrets kept by the higher ups, all because of codes of silence the societies of Catholic Church held tighter than the protection of our innocent children. Shameful was this catholic society groups, with the mentality of hiding pedophiles. The film showed The Boston Globe doing us Justice by putting a spotlight upon the Catholic Church hiding the multiple Priests that preyed on innocent children for years. But in my opinion, it should have never been hidden or look over in the first place and for so many years. Like many hidden things in secret societies it often won’t be exposed until media allows the voices to be heard on a mega platform like newspaper, radio, news station, etc. This is what the Boston globe did in this film.

I can remember when it was in the newspaper here in Philadelphia and the people that I knew who were catholic was just very outraged, and many pledged rights in front of me that day, that they will never give their money or their support to the Catholic Church ever again. Many stated that they would never step foot in a Catholic Church ever again. I saw the after effect when many Catholic Churches closed their doors and to this day some are still closing the doors for lack of participation and for lack of money.

Catholic Schools where always known for the best education, and no one ever thought that this was the perfect place for a pedophile to hide and do so much harm to people and to families. What a wake-up call from such a humongous spotlight that was felt all over the world. In the past we allowed the Catholic Church the power by placing them in a High-Power distance Culture to itself, which gave them access to an even greater power more than the average citizen. This movie showed how monumental this news break was and how this story caused many to leave the Catholic Church and the change was felt all over the country and nations, it caused a major shift in the Catholic Churches, that is still felt today. A lot of people still don’t trust the Catholic Church till this day.

This film did make me angry. I couldn’t understand how some of the families protected the church over their children. And I got upset at how powerful the Catholic Church had gotten, where it could influence the justice systems and influence people of political power. If a mother whose child was molested had wanted to do something about it, it would have been like shooting a rubber-band at a humongous Rhino to try and stop it. This film showed the power of a Boston Globe paper had more than a rubber band by putting the Catholic church in the Spotlight; showing its years of neglect to protect the children and exposing the molesters who disguised themselves underneath a priest robe to pounce upon the innocents of children. Shame on all the catholic church & the Pope who sat by holding to a silence code. It’s just very Sad.

Conclusion,

LIGHTS:
There is something about the light and how you need it, to see clearly.
There is something about the light and how it exposes everything around you, in darkness.
There is something about the light that even the sun needs, to retrieve it.
There is something about the light that whatever is done in darkness of dirt, is exposed.
There is something about the light that some people desirously wish for it to shine brightly, upon them.
But there is also something about the light that the dirty deeds of men wish to hide and be kept from
the illumination of the spot-light.
