I had high expectations for "Blade Runner 2049", The first movie is one of the landmark science fiction films and it is a brave move to attempt a sequel. The movie is has kept all the elements of the original "Blade Runner" alive and is set 30 years after it. Ryan Gosling who plays the role of K is a Blade Runner and is made to find the only replicant which was born. Replicants are clones of humans manufactured by Tyrell Corporation and when they go out of control, the Blade Runners are hired to kill them. As the movie progresses the story gets better and better and the final conclusion is amazing.
Review:
One of the low points of this film is that it is very slow in the beginning. I am not sure why I felt it, maybe its because I am already aware of the world and the movie was trying to introduce the world to the new audience. The first half spent an ample amount of time explaining the world around. The visuals are great and it will keep you interested. The future version of Los Angles is well imagined and presented.
The movie has plenty of twists and turns in it to keep you engaged. Ryan Gosling has done a great job playing K, even though "K" is a replicant he will be working for the police department. During his search for the replicants he will be slowly learning about himself. While looking for the replicant which was born, he discovers a secret which will drive him crazy. He will be living with his holographic companion Joi and there is a scene in this film where K and Joi will have sex together, which is really something I had never imagined and it was beautiful.
Jered Leto plays the role of Niander Wallace and he is amazing in it. Even though his screen time is very less in the film, but whenever he is in the scene he took full control. There is no other actor I could imagine in his place. Niander Wallace is a blind man who is the creator of millions of replicants, Jared Leto in one of his interviews told that he played his role being completely blind, this is pure dedication toward the art.
Harrison Ford who is reprising his role of Deckard, he comes towards the end of the movie. He will be living in a big mansion alone with his dog. He will be guilty of Rachael's death, Rachael is the replicant who he fell in love. In one of the scenes Niander will try to break Deckard by using Rachael's clone. This is one of the most painful scenes to watch.
There are no high intensity action scenes in this film. Most of you might expect this, but this is where Blade Runner sets itself apart from other science fictions. The film is really a philosophical journey to the future world. Its actually an art film set in the future. The humans trying to be god and creating clones, when clones try to rebel back. In the first Blade Runner that movie focused on the hunt for the replicants, but in this the humans were trying to break their reality, the replicants are made to believe that they were not able to reproduce, but in reality they could.
The director Denis Villeneuve who made "Arrival" the previous year has a good eye for the use of philosophy in his movies. Arrival had a lot to do with the themes of motherhood. Blade Runner was all about breaking the hope and hiding the reality. By taking themes from dramas and adding it to a totally different genres, he is able to create stories that are best of both the worlds.
Conclusion:
I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is a science fiction fanatic. I felt few scenes in this movie were a bit unnecessary, the movie could have been made much more shorter and crisp. The first half is a bit slow and it takes time to pick momentum. But, in the end everything will be concluded properly and it is worth your time. The plot is very unpredictable and will keep you engaged throughout.

I saw it in ice ( immersive cinema experience ) with 3d glasses and mega sound fx, it was amazing, was really worth it :D not sure it would be that great on tv screen, the scenario is not that exeptional, but with the mega sound fx and 3d it was still cool !

I'm a science fiction fanatic, so I have to watch it right? I liked the first part for its looks and atmosphere but not so much for the pace.

This has been a stellar year for movies, especially SF movies, starting with Wonder Woman. But I have to admit, Blade Runner has me tense with anticipation. (It doesn't open here for another week)
And after that we have Justice League, Thor and Star Wars 8...
