Blade Runner 2049 snubbed by the Academy Awards!!!

It is an absolute joke that one of the best movies of the year, let alone one of the best of the decade, has been completely looked over by the Academy Awards. Despite being nominated for cinematography, visual effects, sound mixing, production design, and sound editing the academy has still sold this masterpiece short.

With a subtle, yet realistic, Blade Runner portrayal (realistic in this dystonian future) Gosling gives a powerhouse performance that has not garnered him any nominations for awards...it would have been nice to see Gosling get recognition for his superb acting, however this is not where my nerves were twitched.

Denis Villeneuve, the hottest director in Hollywood( in my opinion), has been snubbed a nomination for Best Director...how does a movie with such a beautiful vision and captures the universe that was once the brain child of director Ridley Scott not get recognized for it's astounding directing? This is something that I cannot wrap my head around since the nominations were announced. The critically acclaimed film was, in many instances, carried by the shot direction of Denis. The camera-work cannot be matched by many and it is truly a shame that voters did not feel the same.

With the total miss on nominating Denis for directing, I was pretty ticked off but with a nomination for Best Picture I would be extremely satisfied...I could then forget about the directing mishap.
...NOPE...
The academy completely misses the ball again and does not nominate Blade Runner 2049 for Best Picture.
What a shame. Inferior movies(again, in my opinion...not really) such as, The Shape of Water, The Post, Darkest Hour, and Call Me by Your Name have all been chosen over the better choice and, without a doubt, the more popular choice for the fans.

Oh, well.
Remember the academy completely snubbed Christopher Nolan for The Dark Knight(best picture and directing), Inception(directing), and Interstellar(best picture and directing).
It's tradition at this point for the academy to look over fan favorites because of the genre maybe?

Let me know what you guys think...do you think Blade Runner was fairly nominated?
