'' The Help '' is a film about a social event at a very extreme point, adapted from the novel. The film goes in South America and story wants to tell Jim Crow Laws in the 1960s. The social-political situation was described in the eyes of afro-american citizens. The story is conveyed through the eyes of a white journalist who is opposed to the treatment of the politicians, wants to write a book it and show people the truth with black servants who help her.
White journalist Skeeter (Emma Stone), who is the main hero of the film and savior of the afro-american citizens, is a single, educated feminine, unlike the similar white women around her. She completed her university at the age of 20. But others womans wants to get married at her age. She was raised by a black servant. She had a loveless mother called Chorlotte. Chorlotte is one of the typical white women who married at a young age, participated in beauty contests, neglected her daughter. Skeeter begins writing in a local newspaper in the state of Mississippi's state of Jackson in housework.
Hilly is a housewife, who is more dominant than the others but has the same life as them. Hilly has an organization that ironically helps children in Africa at the same time. She is very good with the governor. She wants to a law that black people need to use a separate toilet from the white house owners. This is the reason that film goes in state of Mississippi. Because Mississippi had very racist laws in the past. It was the center of the slavery and racism in that region continues until the late 80s. This is why a director shoots a movie at the heart of racism.
According to film critics who serve a socially supposed reason, which reflects the period well, it has not been more than a "fashion film of the times". Serving the entire Academy Awards system, the film has all the bad features Hollywood has, though it seems to have seemed to have a good aim. The fact that the characters are totally "black" and "white" destroys the whole reality. White women are totally evil, racist, insensitive, '' types '' whose backgrounds are duplicates of each other. Black women, on the other hand, are completely good, peaceful, emotional, with their backgrounds still the same. Because of this, film just trying to tell something. But showing nothing.
The film divides human types into two and makes their own discrimination. However the whites in the past had disgusting politics at that time, but the fact that the characters in the movie are distinguished as black and white and that making the story inadequate. Although these black and white type techniques used in the first years of cinema , their validity does not remain today. However, the fact that the character in the role of the great savior of blacks is also white is a separate debate. It is also thought-provoking that this character is also played by a Anglo Saxon woman, Emma Stone. Last of all movie showing us black people needs to white people's Help. But when we look at the American history, black people taking his rights WITH non-racist white people. There is a big difference between need and unity.
