I think i was actually searching for something else that Netflix didn't have when this popped up on the recommended list. I quite like Kelsey Grammer so i figured I would give it a go.

I said that this is a romantic comedy but to be fair it doesn't really focus on romance a great deal although the movie does begin with a botched marriage ceremony where the main character Rachel (Kristen Bell) sabotages her own wedding by already being married to her work. Harry (Kelsey Grammer) is at the wedding and tries to sneak out as he sees that the whole things isn't going to happen but trips over a chair and Rachel notices him. We don't know it at that point but Harry actually abandoned Rachel when she was 5 years old.

What follows is a story of them getting to know one another by virtue of being trapped on a cruise ship that was originally intended to be the honeymoon trip for Rachel and her husband that she never married. This part of the story is a bit implausible because both of them were meant to be so drunk that neither of them remember ever getting on the cruise ship. I've been pretty blackout drunk before but never so drunk that something like this could happen. Whatever! It's fiction!

This isn't a comedy so much as it is a drama film with some humorous moments. Seth Rogan is also in the film but he shows his chops as a more serious actor and I think he does a good job with it. I still think that comedy is and always will be his forte, but he proved to me in this movie that he can do both rather convincingly.
Like I said, this movie doesn't have any real surprises and I think anyone with half a brain can figure out where the story is going about 15 minutes in. However, it stays entertaining despite the lack of surprises and all the acting is pretty solid. I have a soft for films about family despite the fact that my own family is nothing like this story. Mostly, i think this is a feel good movie and while it is nothing particularly groundbreaking it is a decent way to spend an hour and a half.
Sounds a bit like “feminist” girl, having daddy issues, blaming daddy for “abandoning” her, while mommy is completely innocent. Am I reaching too far ?

Not really. He did abandon her at 5 years old. Her angst towards him, I believe is quite justified.

I have not seen it yet, I will try to see it soon, the last 4 films that I have seen have not covered my expectations. It will be good to try something different.

well, i wouldn't consider this an exceptional film. I am biassed because I think Grammer is fantastic

Oh no matter, right now I just want to see something that is entertaining, without directors who see themselves as scholars and try to do something no one understands except themselves.

The last thing that Netflix surprised me is "The Haunting of Hill House". The great script, great cinematography, great editing makes it a mind blowing series. Hope this movie goes well.
