Movie 43 (film): a massive collection of stars who made a truly awful film

in films •  6 years ago  (edited)

This isn't one film so much as it is a collection of skits with big name actors including Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Emma Stone, and Halle Berry. How anyone thought this would be a good idea is completely beyond me. It's just terrible.

outrageously bad

How could you look at this lineup and at not be at least a little bit interested? I know that I was despite the extremely unimaginative title. I was excited, then I was grossed out, then i was actually a bit angry. I'm not going to include a photo because not only is it disgusting, but it is just dumb to have a scene where one of the most famous actors on the planet goes on a date and he has a nut-sack on his chin and he tries to play it off as being normal.

I mean, when they pitched this to these two mega-stars did either of them at least maybe bring up the fact that not only is this not funny, but it is disturbing and dumb? I wonder if Peter Farrelly had blackmailed all of the actors in this movie in order to make them do it?

There are a couple of skits that are at least mildly amusing: Halle Berry and Steven Merchant go on a blind date that is quite boring and decide to spice things up with a game of "truth or dare" that spirals wildly out of control. I at least laughed a couple of times during that 6 minutes or so.

The other skit that at least made me chuckle was entitled "Victory's Glory" and although exceptionally racist, is quite funny in how they take the piss out of inspirational, underdog sports films.

This movie was universally panned and the only positive thing I can find that any major critic said about it was "at least it was less than 2 hours long." It really is that bad and not even in a "so bad it's good" type way. No sir. It is just bad.

I do not recommend that anyone watch this crap, ever. However, we need to throw some garbage films in here from time to time. This movie is considered one of the worst movies ever made and is without question the greatest waste of talent ever assembled in one sitting.

Thanks for the review.

On the strength of your review, I checked out "Time Trap" and enjoyed it. And on the strength of your review, I'll avoid this one like the plague.

That's what critics are for, really. You find one with similar tastes, and they hep you to structure your time. Time is precious and limited, and I am not gonna spend it on "Movie 43!" So thank you. :)

you made the correct choice. I am not always right but this movie is poison. just horrible poison.

PMSL

I am not really sure, maybe I just have a strange sense of humor cause I thought this movie was kinda funny in some ways ... Not forgetting that it's actually a complete crap. I find it hilarious when serious actors perform slapstick roles. I watched it several times and I still find it funny. In conclusion.. although I kinda find some scenes hilarious.. the movie was that bad.

after a year of us conversing back and forth.... and you always having meaningful input, I am, as always, happy to see your response. I must admit that i do on time-to-time return to watch Victory's Glory because yeah, this film has its moments and it was always going to attract much more criticism because of the amount of stars that are in it.

Yeah it sure has the power to ring some bells in everyone's hearts. The superstars involved in these are all so big but the movie was a big let down.I am big fan of Hugh jackman but this movie was far below his standards.

The storyline is really disconnected and forced. The jokes might be funny if you're in pre-K but for anyone else they're disgusting and awful.

Even if you thought Epic Movie and the rest of those movies were the greatest ever you may have trouble laughing.

This is the kind of movie where you spend most of it trying to figure out why anyone would consider going through the process of writing and directing it.

I can't imagine why these great actors would agree to do such an awful movie.

This movie is so bad and unfunny that I finally caved and created an IMDb account to warn you - they good people fighting the good fight not to watch this atrocity.

Not funny, not smart, and not worth your time. Worst movie I've ever seen.

I've seen a lot worse than this. Sure it doesn't deliver what you would expect from massive starts like this but it was watchable. Some of the skits were quite funny as long as you can enjoy it the way it was intented. Mindless college humour.

i think the star-power invited a bunch of unintended criticism.

No a lot of the criticism is justified. I'm only saying you could laugh at it for the sheer stupidity of the whole thing. It's probably why they did it, for a bit of light relief.

I am not a your recent follower and I thought that you would post only good films...but it is not!😂
Can I suggest you "The Visit"? Thank you!

i post reviews of all films... some good... some bad. Thank you for the suggestion and it has gone on my list!

In Short: A Vicarious Embarrassment

After seeing the movie I just can't help but wonder why all those movie stars agreed doing this? Sitting through the entire movie made me feel very proud, afterward i felt really stupid.

The main plot was terrible. I'm not going to explain anything because I don't want people spending their money on this and frankly I couldn't pay attention anymore. The funny jokes you already saw in the preview and since you see them coming a mile away and the movie is an enormous buzz kill you won't even laugh. If you do decide to go to Movie 43, prepare to sit back, yawn, roll your eyes and if you're lucky you have to go to the bathroom twice. I encourage you to get drunk.

A special mention goes to Gerard Butler, who as a leprechaun does the best work of his career in a segment so stupid it makes you want to kick every leprechaun you will never see.

This was by far the worst movie I've seen in a while.

Yeah 😄😃😅

Thanks for telling me what not to watch. That nutsack on the chin scene did it for me. Then again, I'm automatically wary of an all star cast. In fact, Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven is an example of that, I felt it was extremely overhyped.

Have a good day!

Honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It just fails on every level and the actors seem to all have either been tricked into it or threatened at gunpoint.

The skits range from dull to desperate to just crude and the jokes all completely fall flat. That being said, I picked up a copy at a garage sale a few weeks ago because some friends wanted to watch this out of morbid curiosity.

We're planning a bad movie marathon, and I think this may be the peak of the evening.
