Hi,
today, when checking #threads, I've stumbled upon a post by @anderssinho, who was pointing out to an interesting search engine, from which I did not know that it existed, namely https://www.ecosia.org/. This engine uses the funds to plant trees.
But first, give some for this thread under this link.
I think this is one of the best ways to combat climate change. Planting trees has much more benefits compared to glueing on a street or destroying something with paint.
I do plant trees, and I think I planned by myself over 10000 trees in my life, around 6000 in Germany and 4000 in Romania, and will definitely continue to plant them. I even own a small forest, where I just replant trees that die or are sick.
But this is another topic and lets's go back to our search engine. I like that it has the dark option
Now let's test the search results. I did an egoistic move and searched for myself. First search:
Quite impressive, as there are 3 links to the chain, first is the blog, second neoxian.city and third peakd.com. @neoxian, good job for this.
Then I moved to google:
Here only on page 2 there have been results and this from peakd and another website.
On ecosia.org, one can choose which country to search from, so I switched to the USA, just to check. Here I had totally different results:
@jongolson, CTPtalk, was the first, on page 4. Nice to see it indexed.
After this small experiment, I'm glad to have another alternative for search, which adapts to the country and, most important, does a thing that I care and pledge for, namely planting trees.
So, go and give it a try and play with it. Share your results in a comment.
