The woes of technology and credit cards.

Ah, experiencing the horrors of technology (story told with tongue in cheek. . . ) I had several credit cards for years, all acquired during my working days. Gradually, I let all of them lapse except one that I use regularly and my American Express card as a back up which I hadn't used for a few years apparently.

Yesterday, I discovered that the card I use regularly had been hacked and someone had been having a grand ole time charging hundreds of dollars to it. I reported the fraudulent charges, the card cancelled and a new one will be mailed to me within a week to ten days.

Oh well, got my AmEx as a back up if necessary. Wrong! It expired 11/21, and because I hadn't used it in years, my account was closed! Can't reactivate it without going through an entirely new application process which I am sure today I would not qualify for on my meager fixed income. I probably received a notification, and possibly tossed it as junk mail?

Then I remembered that I had an ATM/Visa Bank card that had come in the mail recently, so I called to activate it. Too late! Card expired because I didn't activate within 30 days!

Moral of the story? Haven't got one!
