Leading Minds Masterclass

Recently I attended a leading mind series hosted by Duke Corporate Education in Rìvonia, South Africa.

This extraordinary event was facilitated by Bruce Whitfield, a South African multiple platform award winning financial journalist.

Professor Dan Airely , a Duke Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics at Duke University as well as a founding member of the Center for Advanced Hindsight was at the main speaker.

Before Professor Dan came to the podium, there was a panel discussion consisting of Mfundo Nkuhlu, COO Nedbank, Chris Griffiths, CEO Anglo American Platinum, Oupa Mogashula, Industrialist, Danie Mostert, EVP Sibanye, Nolitha Fakunde, Professional Director and Omar Essack, CEO Primedia. These Top CEO’s and Execs shared insights on their personal relationships with money. “Corporates must do more to help dig South Africa out of the economic hole. Can’t have profit at any cost” said Nedbank COO Mfundo Nkuhlu.

Professor Ariely expressed that our behavior often interferes with our best intentions when it comes to managing our finances. Based on his anticipated new book Dollars and Sense, Professor Ariely highlighted the mistakes we make when it comes to financial decisions and took us deep inside our own minds to expose the hidden motivations that are secretly driving our choices about money. Understanding these principles will give us and our companies the edge
