S&P500 April Best and Worst Stocks

in finance •  7 years ago  (edited)

As we approach April with SPX trading near the Feb lows, you may be wondering which stocks have historically performed well during the month, and which stocks have performed poorly.

This information is outlined in the tables below. The first table displays the S&P500 stocks that have historically performed the best (on % of months up) while the second table displays the S&P500 stocks that have historically performed the worst.

How to read:

  1. April returns are calculated for each year since the year 2000 and are shown in the top half of the table.

  2. The bottom half of the table displays basic statistics about the returns for each stock including the percentage of months that the stock ended higher over all years, average return, return if the stock ended the month higher, return if the stock ended the month lower and an unweighted reward to risk ratio (Average return if up / Average return if down) .

Data used to produce these tables was sourced from Tradestation and is for informational purposes.

That's all for now.
