The American Dream is a Lie

From as early as I can remember I had been told by school teachers, family members and society that to succeed in America you have to do certain things. You must go to college, you need to get a good career, get a house, get married, have children, go into debt and eventually retire when you’ve lived out your usefulness. Don’t deviate from the norm, move up the corporate ladder, don’t think outside the box too much and put hard work as the pinnacle of success. We have been lied to.
This American dream has turned into a nightmare and we are all suffering from it. You can be successful without giving up your freedom. You don’t need to follow the status quo and fit in. College is not for everyone, being an employee is not for everyone and giving up the best years of your life for the magic at the end of the retirement rainbow should not be the goal. The future is not guaranteed, why not live your best life now? Make that business you’ve dreamed about, write your novel, go on that world trip, and don’t go into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt for a useless degree or home you don’t want.
Don’t be afraid to question what society tells you to do. You don’t need to rely on the corporation, colleges, the government to help you, you’ve got this and are capable of whatever your dreams are. Go make your life amazing and remember the American dream is nothing but a lie.

So true!!! The American dream has been in a slow death since we were taken off the Gold standard in the 1970's. Since then our fiat money and purchasing power has been devalued and subsequently we were sold out to cheap labor and goods overseas. To go into debt is enslavement, and that's what the American system thrives on. USA's main product is DEBT! Don't fall for it! Be free and live modestly and generously. :)
