Tokenise: The Who, What and Why

Tokenise. Who are we? What do we do? To put it simply, we are a world-wide digital investment gateway for tokenised assets to finance the next generation of innovative ideas and enhance the wealth of the global community. And now for the longer explanation. The Tokenise Stock Exchange (TKSE) is a fully regulated, global tokenised stock exchange. By offering tokens, representing digital assets, our exchange will democratise the capital markets. Making the markets much more accessible to the global community of investors in the process.

TKSE was established by a group of UK financial service professionals to create a full end-to-end service from the issuance to secondary market trading of tokenised securities. We were granted the world’s first Self-Regulated Organisation stock exchange license for tokenised securities in Barbados, where we are also regulated as a broker-dealer, to enable direct market access to the stock exchange.

Instead of focusing on traditional assets and investment methods, TKSE will spearhead the innovation and development within the growing industry of trading digital securities. We have built a tokenised stock exchange for multiple asset classes that is globally accessible via our network of regulated and compliant corporate advisors. TKSE will set the global standard for security token issuances and aims to operate the world’s first dedicated multi-jurisdictional global single order book.

So how is Tokenise different? The TKSE is far from what one would assume a traditional stock exchange to be. We are a digital exchange, and our focus is to democratise the capital markets and offer curated, sustainable, and long-term investment opportunities within everyone’s grasp, which is fully FCA regulated.

We saw multiple opportunities for improvement to existing investment models on the stock exchange. Firstly, it is almost impossible to get funded through capital markets if you are a small to medium enterprise (SME) because of the insurmountable costs of an IPO, compliance, and professional fees. There is a lack of diversity in asset classes and limited access to suitable investors. Also, certain areas of the world such as Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East have markets which are significantly underserviced, adding another bump in the investment road.

Our solution to this is the Tokenise Stock Exchange: a fully regulated international digital exchange which makes it faster to list on the market and at a reduced cost compared to traditional methods. Gone are restrictions, as we will be listing new asset classes as well as more traditional types — but in the form of tokens. But there’s more — these will be available to both retail and experienced investors on a global scale: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through this we will be enhancing the ability of individuals and institutions around the world to participate in direct ownership of tokenised securities which could be (but are not limited to) fractions of NFTs, membership to an art fund, a slice of a back catalogue of world-renowned musical artists, property, royalties, or bonds.

With digital assets gaining regulatory and institutional acceptance worldwide, we believe now is the perfect time to democratise capital markets through the tokenisation of assets. Utilising blockchain technology as a ledger, all transactions are securely recorded and publicly available to view. The tokenisation of assets could be hugely advantageous as it brings greater potential liquidity and the possibility of trading tokens on the secondary market, further increasing accessibility to new investors. The TKSE is a platform which is designed to work for the individual. And that’s you — so stay tuned for more.
