Some of my paintings and murals are given uninterrupted blocks of time to work on. I have been adapting to working over a longer period of time recently, one day a week to complete a mural. This is mostly due to the fact that I have several art projects and obligations, as well as personal experiments in my paintings, which I look forward to sharing!
Here is the progress below, panel by panel, The mural is close to being completed and although there was a lot of planning involved, there are a couple of spontaneous additions that have occurred and are still being sorted out, this is the fun and messy part where I begin to settle into the image and spontaneous detail is able to manifest.
Let's Begin looking at the progress one panel at a time from right to left:
The Far Right Panel from January to late February:
The Middle Panel from Early January to Late February, the Tobacco Barns... with some changing weather.
The Far Left Panel Progress finally.. the House with the Apple orchard:
One fine Detail at a time this mural will be finished. The dogs, the tall river grass, the ferry, the clouds, rainbow, fall leaves, sunflowers and flock of birds to name a few, are all in need of final detail work to bring this all together.
The Primary advantage of taking time from this mural every week is that it allows time to reflect and imagine what else I can put into it and come to it with a plan in mind for the 4-8 hours I spend with it on each Saturday.
The next post will be the final one! Thank you for taking a look.
