practicing shading on Mel Gibson's sketch

in fineartnow •  7 years ago  (edited)

hello everybody, how is going on with the cold weather ? today finally the temperature started to rise a gain so hopefully we will say goodbye to winter soon, alright then, last week i spent sometime practicing sketching and then i decided to share the process and the result with you, so lets start with the quick sketch i have started with :

i guess the sketch looks like old Mel Gibson :-) , anyway, i will start to shade the sketch with a light charcoal pen, started with the left side by shading the darkest areas in the face and the hair also.

after that, i countiued shading the rest of the face, adding the highlights and the rim light on the right side if the character's face, i also created the hair highlights which makes it more realistic,

however, as you can see in the above image, the highlights are too crisp and brights therefore i started to blend and smooth them to create more realistic look, and the final result looks like :

I do not know why i have a feeling that the final sketch looks more like Bruce Willis " when he had a hair and was cool :-D" , anyway i hope that you enjoyed this post and found it useful, for the moment do not forget to upvote and resteem, and see you in another artistic post.
