Deputies are ordering evacuations in Rancho San Diego due to a brush fire that sparked Wednesday night amid a Red Flag Warning.
The fire was reported near Willow Glen Drive and Hillsdale Road near Cottonwood golf links , consistent with Cal Fire. Multiple structures were threatened, the agency said.
Cal Fire estimated the fire at 10 to 15 acres.
The SDSO said deputies were going door-to-door on the 2800 block of Wind River Road and Sawgrass Street making evacuations.
A temporary evacuation site was set up at Edwards Cinemas at 2951 Jamacha Road, according to the sheriff's department.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 10 p.m. Saturday thanks to the high winds and low humidity. A High Wind Warning is also in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m.
The combination dries out brush and wildlands, setting the table for a fast-spreading fire if one were to spark.
