Firmness in faith and love: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Greed and avarice, what are the hidden motivators of those who live according to the flesh, deviate many men towards the teaching of the error, the heresy, the bible warns us; the contentment, the happiness mixed with joy, produced by living the gifts is the basis of spiritual life: "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have", Hebrews 13:5.
Jesus is the true revelation: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.", Hebrews 13:8-9.
Firmness in faith and love is essential to enter to that future city of which Paul speaks to us in his epistle: "For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come", Hebrews 13:14.

Mercy (kindness, gentleness, compassion) can be a great source of profit, but we must not fall into that error, because this sooner or later this leads us to the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21): "and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.", 1 Timothy 6:4-5.
An example of this is Simon Magus, who out of greed offers money to the disciples to buy spiritual gifts: "When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money and said, ´Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.´
Peter answered: ´May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!´", Acts 8:18-20.
Wanting to buy sacred things with money would be called, centuries later, the "heresy of simony".
